and he has started her on 5mg/daily of Losec with a review in three months time.
I am to give it to her in the morning, but forgot to ask if it better to give before a feed or after? My pharmacist said the tablet takes about half hour to dissolve properly so if I have to give before first feed it may be an issue
Before a feed was what I was told to do. 30 mins to dissolve is not the case! They are very easy to dissolve the issue is that little balls in them do not dissolve and cant be crushed, so dissolving all you ar doing is dissolving the enteric coating.
I personally found this very hard to get into DS1 so I went back to GP and got a script for Losec suspension which has to be made up in a compounding pharmacy and tastes terrible but they can flavour it to make it slightly better.
i agree with feeb. the tabs were hard for me to get into DD2 so her paed gave me script for the suspension liquid. i got it done at Knox Private Hospital Pharmacy department (they are a compound pharmacy). however there is a stand alone compound pharmacy called Dartnells Pharmacy. they're in Surrey Hills but they can also arrange next day delivery of medication if you can't get out to them.
So far I have got the doses into her (dissolved and then using a syringe) but it is coming back up within 10minutes... what are the chances any is being absorbed by her body before it is expelled?
I have a friend that works at a compound pharmacy and she said she can make up some stuff for me (plus I'm not in Melb )
