My DS is now 8.5 mths and has silent reflux, we tried to go of the Losec about a month age with little sucess so we are back on it, but the problem i am having is that he sleeps unwrapped and is having trouble settling to sleep cause he gets himself stuck in the side of the cot, upside down and all over. A rolled up towel used to let him move but stay in the middle of the cot, not anymore, he just rolls over it, any ideas and how long do you continue to elevate ????????????????? Thanks guys
Can't help u there - but i can sympathise with what u are going thru! Our bubba has silent reflux and it is hell trying to get her too sleep -we also have her cot elevated!
so far we have her on Infant Gaviscon - which seems to be helping! no more hours of constant screaming!
I have recently put my DS into grobags. They are fab as little wrigglers can move about the cot without getting cold or tangled in blankets/sheets and its great peace of mind for me.
They wont help with him getting stuck of course but I found that within a day or two my DS was sleeping very soundly just because he was more comfy. They're not for everyone but worth a look maybe.
My DS had reflux and my DD has silent reflux... i can tell you IMO silent reflux is worse... as much as the projectile vomits were a niusence at least you could tell when he was having symptoms... My DD suffers in silence... With DS we had the bed ellevated til 12 months... Then Only slightly... I just put a folded up blanket under the mattress after 7 months and i have just done the same with DD.... before that i elevated the whole cot (as in the legs at the head of the cot) I have an Airwrap around the cot cos My DD was rolling and ending up with arms and legs stuck out of the cot. She still does roll but cant get stuck out the sides.
I also like the gro bags. DD spins around and ends up with her head where the blanket it so i prefer to use the gro bag and a light sheet or blanket so if she does spin its not a heavy blanket
Kellmay... An Airwrap is like a cot bumper but is breatheable... its white and is made of a netting type material... Keeps arms and legs inside the cot...
Kell- i brought mine from Big w... They have them at target, kmart baby stores like babies galore, etc. i think there about $25-35... cant remember exactly. i have also found it great for when i resettle bubs in the cot... Prevents her from seeing when i walk out too..
HI Kell my DS who just turned 2 had silent reflux and was on meds until a few months ago. We had his cot elevated until he moved into his big bed 4 weeks ago, but the last 6 months were just a pillow under his mattress and not as an acute angle as when he was younger.
air wraps are easily found for cots that dont have solid ends... DS's cot has solid ends, and I could never find one to suit.
Aiden had silent reflux, but, was managed with losec. He stayed elevated in his bassinate for the first 3months, then, when we moved him to the cot, we never worried about evelating the cot, and he was fine.
Thanks everyone, we have seen a big difference with the air wrap and a lower elevation - about half. He is back self settling most of the time and sleeping thur THANK YOU BIG TIME !!!!!!!!!
