A good friend of mine has a colicy (sp) baby and was asking me for advice on what she could do to help her. Now i've never had experience with colic and didn't know of any solutions but knew that there would be lovely ladies out there with good information I could pass onto her.
Shes becoming very frustrated and i want to offer what I can to help her. (her DD is 4 weeks old)
So, What remedies have you lovely people used for colic???
This is what worked for my DS2. After a feed, lie baby on his belly across your knees with his head slightly lower than his tummy, and rub his back towards his head. After 30 seconds or so lift baby up so he is upright with his head on your shoulder and continue firmly rubbing upwards. Large burp should follow within a few seconds. If not, repeat until it does.
Also avoid eating chocolate and drinking caffine when BFing as this can worsen colic in some babies. And a few drops of colic relief like infacol can work wonders.
We found with DD Infants friend or gripe water given before a feed worked well. We also would stop her feed part the way through sit her up and burp her. Moving her legs in bicycle leg movements also helped. TBH DD's seemed to almost disappear around 3 months well not near as often as it was in the beginning. I'm a bfing but I know that there are bottles that are better for colic babies and I believe even particular formula to assist with it also. Hope something here can help her.
