    Normal teething?

DD has been teething - as in swollen gums, irritability and waking every 1-2 hours, but no actual teeth - for the past 4.5 months. In the past week, two spots on her gums, over the molars, have become extremely swollen. It almost looks like an abscess. Is that normal? I think she must have terribly tough gums or something... seems to take forever for the teeth to push through.

I think when it comes to teething 'normal' is pretty broad. It sounds normal-ish to me? Sounds painful too, poor baby. Hope they pop through soon.

Ds has had two swollen purple lumps on his gums near the molars for over a month an still no sign of white spots! I think their teeth move up and down a lot before breaking through. But yes, thhe hourly wake ups, drool and clingy baby for an extended period is very tedious. Teeth!

Happy to see you around madB

Sounds like an eruption cyst, not harmful but could be painful, not overly common but obviously do happen

Millie has the same thing - she has had no new teeth this year but has had baaaad "teething" weeks twice. Her gums get so swollen. Daycare is now happy for her to have her amber necklace on, I think they realise it is helping. Hope they come through for the poor things soon.
