I looked around and didn't see anything about it.. Hope y'all don't think I'm a terrible mum, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried a little whiskey rubbed on the gums? I tried it this afternoon out of sheer desperation and she immediately went from fussy and screaming to calm and giggly. Like immediately. I'd always heard it as a sort of old wives' remedy and a bit of a joke but wouldn't you know it works... Any other experiences? (I'm just talking enough to get the tip of my finger wet, rubbed on her gums, probably even less than a drop..)
Apart from the negative effect of alcohol, i'd probably be concerned about the sugar on the gums, and the fact that she probably won't settle any other way eventually if you keep doing this.
There are so many other things to try that aren't potentially harmful to bubs, have you tried Brauers Teething relief? cold flannels? Homeopathics?
its one of those old wives tale you either agree or disagree, give the teething tablets a go though they arefantastic not for just when teething, we had a few nights where jack was just out of soughts and the tablet helped calm him down
Lol, sounds like a good idea to me!
I was telling the CHN a few months back how my MIL and nan keep telling me to use gripe water because it worked so well. CHN explained that the reason it used to work so well was because it was about 60% alcohol- stopped the sore gums and tummy ache by knocking the babys out cold....
