    Reflux not under control

I am beginning to wonder if my DS's reflux is not as under control as I first thought as I stil have to fight him EVERY DAY to take his bottle, the best ones to give him are middle of the night and his dream feed.
The Paed has put him on 10mg of Losec, but his feeding really is no better, I have tried different formulas but doesnt seem to make a difference.
He is nearly 7 kgs and I am lucky if he takes 600-700ml of formula a day and that is never without a fight, the most I can get him to take in a feed without a fight is 60mls(I don't know how he has managed to gain so much weight in the last 3 1/2 months with his feeding habits).

I think I will take him back to the Dr. and see if we can figure out what is going on, I am just so sick of fighting him all day long, fight him to feed, fight him to sleep .............arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggg

    reflux

Hi all,my fourth son had very bad reflux by week four our doctor recommended a formula called,(Nutricia,Karicare-HA-AR )this is for feflux and also babies at high risk of allergies, for some reason our last two sons had ezema, but besides that this fomula is very thick and works wonders, both our boys stayed on it until about 12 months of age. This formula can be bought from any super market, but if you have tried many formulas and nothing works than back to a doctor is your only option, some young babies sometimes have a weakness in the valves in the eosophicus-wind pipe, doesn`t hurt to check things out.Once the felux stops every body is happy!!

I am late one this but was wondering how you guys were going? I would see if you can get the meds increased. When the meds work fully, you know it, pretty much all symptoms go away, which include the feeding problems.

You could go to 20mg a day and if you split it it works better. Do you raise his cot? Hold him upright when you feed him and afterwards?

Sorry I missed this as well, have you thought about food intolerances causing the reflux? When Jovie was going through breast refusal, and I had to give her something we got an elemental formula which worked. If she had cows milk, soy milk or goats milk she had huge reflux episodes and it was horrible, but once on the Neocate she was great. She eventually weaned back to breast though & I was on the strict diet. I got the script from my GP after explaining that we tried other formulas.

Anyway, Jovie's reflux settled right down & didn't need more medication after we eliminated the bad foods. HTH!
