    Teething awake for hours help!!

    Hi,

My little man has been just awful the last 4 nights and I am at a loss as to what to do.He had reflux so has never slept during the night. His normal rountine would be bottle at 6pm and then sleeps for 4/5 hours. When he wakes I breastfeed him he then normally goes another 3/4 hours then at the end usually 2 hours. He wakes 5.30/6am.Thats a good night for us!But the last 4 nights he goes good at the beginning 4 hours or so.Then I feed him and he wakes maybe 2 hours later. Then hes awake for 2 hours crying and screaming on and off.I try feeding him, rocking him and singing which is the way he goes to sleep at 6.He had 2 bottom teeth. He seems to have lots of wind also during the night. He gets teething and colic powder before bed.I have tried giving him them when he wakes but not much luck.I have given him panadol in the past which kind of works but on the bottle it says to not give it for more than 48hours so what do you do when hes like this night after night and nothing works.Last night he woke at 3.30am and never went back to sleep.Me my husband and my friend who lives with us got no sleep and we all feel awful today. We also have tried the Bauers liquid which worked ok.I go through all the things that could be wrong, hunger, reflux.wet, colic teeth but I just don't know.Does this sound like its a teething thing??Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions at all.I don't thing I can cope with it again tonight and the horrible is that I can so mad with him which makes it worse and then I feel like a really bad mother.

    Thanks

Sounds very familiar! When DS gets a new tooth he's up half the night and it's awful. I find baby ibuprofen works OK for the teething period before he gets the tooth, but he's still up quite a bit.

Does he have a runny nose? Karvol tablets are fantastic.

Could he have an allergy? It may be worth seeing if certain food groups mean a worse night or cause the reflux. That would mean a food log for you. I know if DS had a day big on dairy he had worse reflux and screamed all night.

Good luck to you, I know I HATE the sleepless nights and end up getting too cross with DS too. At least you can muster up the energy to give him love in the day time (usually!).

Hylands teething tablets. Wonderful! Get them at some pharmacies (I had to go to 3 before i found some)

Also a teething necklace works wonders!! The ones at www dot inspiredbyfinn dot com are great and cheaper then aus stores. I paid $35 for 2 including post. Just google "Baltic Amber Teething Necklace" and you will fine heaps of info on amber and what it does. I swear it works!
