Sorry if this is a stupid question..I simply don't know... Does teething cause tummy upsets?
I think Hunter may be starting to teeth, and he has been suffering constipation for a couple of weeks. (Yes he is exclusivly breast fed). Poor little guy grizzles all the time, even tho there is no inflamation or red cheeks yet.
He has also started arching his back in sudden spurts, with a look of surprise on his face, ( no, it's not a fit).
He is normally a really settled, quiet baby, (as most premies are) But he's just SO grizzly now. He doesn't nap properly, and so is tired all the time. He is feeding kinda funny too. Like every second feed or so he will start doing this funny suck, turn away, mouth, turn away, mouth ,turn away, not really sucking, but just putting it in his mouth, then turning away. He's not upset when doing this, but it's frustrating for me.
Does this all sound like teething? Reflux? .....?.....?
Pip did the sudden arching when he'd have constipation or tummy upsets from wind - generally with Pip when he's teething he'll chew not suck ? But we weren't able to bf so no idea on that front ...
First of all breastfed babies can go up to 2 weeks without pooping.. My DD was one of those and the days leading up to her poosplosion she was very unsettled..
I swear by infants Friend.. It helps calm the tummy and also helps with teething and is natural..
When he does the pulling away feed has he asked for the feed? As in has he cried for it? does he have just a few sucks then pull away and then get frustrated when you try to put him back on?
When my DD did and does that she was just thirsty and wanted a quick drink. and I would keep trying to attch her as I thought she needed a proper feed .
Thanks Nic,
No he doesn't get upset, some times he even gives me a big smile as he turnes away frome the boob. I get frustrated and put the "lunch box" away. He usually goes about 7 days between dirty nappies, by day 5 he gets REALLY smelly farts, (just like Daddy!!) and you can see how uncomfortable he is.
Yes he is chewing on everything, He had a bad bout of oral thrush for a while there, and we kept thinking he was trying to scratch his tonge, but now we aren't so sure.

There is never a stupid question when it comes to babies/kids...
I agree with nic... infants friend or i have just started DD on the beauers stomach calm... It helps tummy aches, upsets, indigestion, ferlux, diarrhoea and constipation... My DD can go 7-10 days with out a poop... last night she was up 3 times i thought it was from her having a day sleep for a change until we got the pooslosion...
The arching of the back founds like a touch of reflux or possibly wind... My DD also does the pull off and want more then pull off again... i find sittingher up for a burp and trying again helps, or recently she's just been getting distracted so i found feeding in a less distracting environment. Does he feed quickly??? DD can feed quickly and end up with a tummy ache from too much milk too quickly... stomach calm or the infants friend work well...
Also as nic said teething is usually more a chomping, dribbling, red cheeks but some babies dont get any signs of teething though...
MJ arches her back and pulls away and is generaly fussy at the boob when ovulate and a coupld of days befpre AF arrives...
At times she cried at the boob, when she pulls away and also when put back on and sometimes i cant get her back on...
She has never suffered from wind or reflux though, so the only thing that i can assume it is, is a change in my hormone levels and she is sensing it
