I used one for DS and will for this bub too.
He had his on from birth until 13months (when he already had 20 teeth) He didn't have a single tooth until 9months either and our lives were never significantly interrupted.
However saying that i had never heard of them when DD was small and she went through a patch when she got 11 teeth in a fortnight and I never even noticed.
