We used zantac (ranitidine) basically from birth. It was a lifesaver for us. Darcy was on it until she was over 1 and we never had any dramas.

I have been using it for my DS since 14weeks and it has made a huge difference for us. The thing with the side effects companies have to list anything which may occur despite that it may not be very common.
It really comes down to the benefits outweighing the risks. For us a happier bub who did not have a sore tum was so worth it. You never know until you try.

hey thanks for your reply, how did it come in powder form or liquid and how would you give it in formula bottles? did you have any success with infant gaviscon, or if you didnt try that how long did zantac take to work? sorry for all the questions!

    Naturopathic treatment of silent reflux

    Hi there,
I am one of the naturopaths at the new Belly Belly Centre here in Melbourne.
I was sorry to hear you are having trouble with your little one. I am
finding a lot of similar cases and they all seem to have a similar
thing in commom that is they were either born by caesarian ( and so
did not pick up their mother's flora as they came down the birth canal
or their parents have an allergic picture ( often eczema) and due to
some event eg an infection where they had to have antibiotics( this
again has knocked out their natural gut flora).
What seems to happen is that they develop a leaky gut and whenever
they have certain foods - cow's milk formulas etc these cross their
gut and they set up an allergic response to them hence causing the
    pain etc.
The main way naturopaths treat this apart from giving something to
relieve the pain is to repair the gut lining and put back the flora
that should be their so they don't have this allergic reaction to
foods. Gaviscon and zantac certainly stop the reflux but they don't
repair the damage which will only lead to further problems later.
I would strongly suggest changing to a non allergenic milk formula such as a goat's milk on ( Karricare?) and also using some baby probiotics plus nutrients to repair the gut wall.
If you need any more help I would be happy to send a product out to
you which would really help. Just contact me on Jocelyn@bellybelly.com.au
    Best wishes,
    Jocelyn
