It seems like we have just gotten over one sleep problem and another has cropped up ! DD has started to get VERY mobile, doing some comando crawling already. Now, when we put her down to sleep, her legs just keep going. I know she is tired because I have taken to holding her and holding her legs as still as I can to help her get to sleep. She is basically asleep in my arms, but yes, you guessed it, the legs are still going a million miles per hour.
How can I help her relax enough to sleep?
PS, she always used to settle on her own, and getting her to sleep was never a problem.
Sorry I can't help but will watch with interest. My Little chicken has her legs going non stop as well, she has started to wake herself up at about 4am because of it!!!
hi there PinkLily good to see you! Is she in a sleeping bag? this helped Tara by not moving her legs so much. When she has a bath is she less active when she goes to sleep afterwards, bathing tires them out which is good, also how much floor time does she have? I found if I give Tara mostly floor time she gets tired too and doesnt move her legs as much in bed.
Belle - Ava is always in a sleeping bag at night and she was in one for her first sleep this morning, however her other 2 sleeps I didn't have her in one cause it was getting a bit too warm. And those were the sleeps we had trouble with. Might have to keep her in a sleeping bag all the time until she learns to calm down herself.
Also she get HEAPS of floor time. She is basically on the floor all the time cause she is just a huge bundle of energy. Her bedtime routine also includes a bath, massage, storytime and some cuddles so plenty of time to wind down at the end of the day, but it's the day sleeps that she is being difficult for.
Will keep you all posted. Have just put her down for the night and so far so good.
maybe she is feeling that she doesnt want thsoe sleeps.
my DD did that till i gaev up on that sleep and cut her down to 3 sleeps, one over night 12 hours and one at 10-12 and 3-5 she settled really well.
I can't help with the legs because DD is the same, however I agree with kellz that she might be ready to drop one of the day naps? My DD did at around five months, now she has a morning nap at about 9am or 10am, and an afternoon one at about 2pm, night time (all going well) is 7pm - 7am.
I found this age tough because they seem to have more energy but can't burn it because they're not crawling yet. Maybe a jolly jumper would help wear her out, it will probably encourage the jimmy legs more though!
