Midwives HELP : Will i hurt my baby physically if i let her sleep like this?
Lately the only way dd will sleep is in her bouncer (fisher price kick and play) chair.
We have to have it on vibrate, she is strapped in the little pelvic harness.
We have sat it in her cot to get her used to the mobile and surroundings with the hope of her one day laying flat in the cot.
Will it hurt her to be sleeping in an upright position on vibrate all night?
SHe is like this ALL day to sleep, and tonight i really need some sleep and she wakes up every 1-2hours over night fussing if she is flat (yes we have tried elevating the end of the mattress... no good)..
Help - Professional Panel comments greatly appreciated.
Nina went through a stage of doing this. It only lasted a couple of weeks, but wasn't every night. I too tried elevating the mattress, but the bouncer did the trick. I always tried putting her in bed first, but she'd end up in the bouncer. She did however grow out of it, and she loves her bed now. It could possibly just be a phase she's going through.
Went through a similar phase here where DD would only sleep in her high/lo chair in the recline position. I had to push it back and forth to get her to sleep. With music on as well she would have some really good naps. During this stage though she did sleep well over night, so I can't help you there. For a night of sanity though it should not be too bad, just keep her next to you so you can check on her to make sure she does not flip out, especially if there is only a pelvic harness and not one that goes over the shoulders. How does she go without the vibrate on? Can you switch it off when she is in deep sleep?
Lachlan slept in his rocker on the floor next to my bed for the first 8 weeks. It hasnt done him any damage, we didnt have it on vibrate though. If its giving you some sanity then its fine. have you thought of using a baby hammock? every time she stirs it will gently bounce but at least its not moving all the time.
