    Settling a 12 week old

We're having a few issues here and wondering if anyone has any tips/suggestions.

Firstly, day sleeps - he'll settle ok (generally prefers being rocked and patted) but will only sleep in the cot/bassinett for 30mins and then he wakes up. Because of this, I tend to wear him in the sling. Although I have noticed that his first and third sleep are shorter and he has a longer middle of the day sleep. Any tips? I'm just a bit worried that he'll always need to sleep in the sling rather than get any other sleep associations.

At night, we generally feed to sleep. up until 10weeks, we could put him down awake in the bassinet, but then that stopped. So we've been feeding to sleep. He'd generally go down around half 7, but last week, he'd fall asleep on the boob at half 7, so we'd put him down in is bassinet but he'd wake up 10mins later. WE'd do this around 3-4 times before he'd stay asleep. One of the nights DH gave up and put him in the sling. Now, I thought I cracked it - as on sunday we had an early bath, pj's on, wrapped and then fed, whilst also putting a wheat bag in his bassinet to warm it up slightly. Went down first time, did the same on Tuesday (mon were out so fell asleep in car) but then last night, same routine, but he was back to waking up, until I finally managed to rock him in my arms and then he stayed asleep.

I know i shoudln't complain as once he's asleep at night, he goes 7-8 hours () but its just getting him to sleep thats the issue, and I'm hoping to get to the gym a couple of nights a week, but if he'll only settle for me then there's no chance.

So, any ideas for either problem? TIA

Are you familiar with Pantley's no cry sleep solution? She has lots of advice on this exact problem. It sounds like you've made good progress on the whole, though.

yeah, I've got the ncss from DD's sleeping trouble days, but couldn't find anything that would help at this stage - it seemed to be either stuff for a brand newie, or for when they're that bit older, ie the age when they can get attached to a comforter, and so on. Maybe, I better have another read and see if I missed anything. I have tried the Pantly pull off a couple of times, but DS isn't that impressed so far! lol

We used it at around this age - worked quite well.
The process she describes for getting them used to sleeping in the cot rather than in your arms, I mean.
