    sleep deteriorated since Christmas!

I was one of those really irritating mums whose baby slept from 8pm-6am from 8 weeks on...bliss!

Since Christmas, Felix's sleep has become so much more unsettled. He now wakes every 2-3 hours and can only be settled by feeding...he then settles straight away.

It looks like he is cross-cutting teeth...and we've been using nurofen and SM33 to help...

Are the sleeping issues just teething problems? If so, how long do you think they will go on for?

    Cheers!

I'd say there is a huge chance it's his teeth. Unfortunately, this can cause sleep disturbance for weeks on end - 6 weeks for my DD when she cut her first two teeth. Was a nightmare.

But the good news is it never lasts and he will be sleeping through again before you know it.

I don't think there's ever been a baby who sleeps well all the time. They all have their little ups and downs and phases, but they always pass!

    Hang in there!

    Thanks so much Willow!

    That really helps!

I keep saying to myself that "this too will pass!"

    Cheers!

with our dd i think it was a good week of hellish sleep at night and zero sleep during the day, while her first tooth (or teeth) came thru... now she is cutting several at once and she is pretty okay, can't complain.... i think maybe they begin to get used to the feeling/pain... here's hoping anyway. i gave baby panadol, one dose at night, and sometimes another dose if she woke very upset... i didnt give it during the day though. good luck!!

My DS is the same. The first two teeth were a nightmare. The next two were equally hellish, and all others after that have been fine. I noticed today that he has cut another tooth. THe only thing is that he has had runny nappies and a sore bottom, but no sleep disturbances.

He may also be having a growth spurt - hence being hungry, and waking up wanting a feed.

Good luck, and give it a couple of weeks and it might pass.

Yep, we were the same actually - only ever had trouble with the first two, after that they would just pop up without us noticing any change in her sleeping/behaviour.

I thought I would take a chance and see if someone else was experiencing similar issues and yay! (sorry to those who are going through this) there are. My little chickadee used to sleep from 7pm through till 2-3 am and then 7am. But a few days before we left on our holiday to stay with family for christmas she started waking every 2-3hours overnight and hasn't stopped since (going on 4 weeks now).
I thought maybe a growth spurt (which she has grown heaps but has gone on for ages) and now have found out she has her first 2 teeth coming through at 4 months!
I am not sure whether just to ride out this waking and keep feeding her or whether to start trying to resettle her though she usually feeds really well at each waking rather than just nibbling and falling asleep. She always goes back to bed/sleep easily and is happy enough during the day.
I just hope it all ends soon - any ideas??

Our little man has worked extremely hard at getting his teeth through since he was 4 mths (now 13.5 mths). Sometimes a 'pre-emptive' panadol at bedtime works. Other times only sm33, nurofen, boobie when the gel had kicked in and cuddling up to mum and dad works. If he's waking every 2 hours, I find co-sleeping helps to get him out to 4 or 5 hours. It comes and goes - I hope yours goes soon!!
Thinking of you both (and will think of you during the night when no doubt I'll be up a few times as there's a new bottom molar coming thru!)

    Thanks guys!

Just knowing other people go through the same thing helps!

Felix seems to be cross cutting his first teeth...the first tooth is down the bottom, looks like it's in the position of a canine or perhaps even a molar!!!

We co-sleep from about 5am-ish onwards...so maybe I should try a little earlier...

I guess my fear is that this is going to be a permanent pattern...++night feeds...

Bilby1..your little one sounds identical to Felix...

This is exactly how Felix is...have you found that your little girl's day feeds have become less 'fruitful'?

    Hi guys
Thanks. Can't do co-sleeping, sleeping in the same room is hard enough and she won't lay down in bed with us. My fear too is that it becomes a more permanent pattern, with her waking up just expecting a feed. We tried to resettle her a couple of times last night after 2 hour wakings. Once there was no way she was going to sleep and DH had been trying for 20mins. The 2nd was successful but only really dragged us out for another 1-1.hours putting us at the 3hour mark again :-(
Monnie - her day feeds actually aren't that bad though she had started the habit of pulling off a lot but still wanting more so constantly swapping sides. She also decided that talking with her mouth full of boob is fun - it is quite funny but makes the whole process take longer.
Anyone else tried resettling at night?
What time between feeds are you all experiencing during the day and what sort of sleeps? I was told that she should be doing 4 hours but that might only happen once if i am lucky, and that is only cause she has had a long sleep.
i just hope this all ends soon - i need sleep! Anything longer than 2 hours would be soooo great!
