I started pre-conception care at least 6 months before TTC. Cut out alcohol and caffeine (including chocolate), did a detox, bought organic food and changed my lifestyle. DH cut down on drinking as well. Followed advice from 'Natural Way to Better Babies' and went to a Naturopath and DH and I started supplementing.
I don't know it this helped or not being a first pg. We conceived on the 1st attempt and have had a great pg so far with no major problems.
Everyone is different but I believe getting your body well can help.
