35 day cycle - which days to try on??

    Hey everyone,

I'm new to the site, so I've got the L plates on with all these acronyms!

I'm hoping I can get some advice on the best days to get busy with DH. I have a 35 day cycle most months, and have been charting for almost 6 months now. AF started on 5th of July and previous OPK's seem to indicate days 20 or 21 are "O" time.

I'm planning on trying every day from day 17 - 22 (6 days straight), but I'm not sure if this is a little overkill? I've even heard that the concentration of decreases if you try every day and you could therefore jeopardise the most fertile day

Can anyone advise the optimal days to try?

    Cheers,

Emily (mum to be on a mission)

Your OPKs seem to indicate your are ovulating at the "perfect" time ie. 14 days prior to AF starting is the typical time for ovulation. that 14 day period of your cycle is called the luteal phase. day 17 to 22 sounds perfect for you but personally, I think BDing everyday is overkill. sperm are supposed to live for up to 3 days and some peopel say 5 days so BDing every 2nd day would mean there are some there on the second day anyway.
the other thing is before you started TTC, did you notice any EWCM? that is the best indicator of ovulation. the only thing is that if you are getting busy all the time, it can be hard to tell teh EWCM from "leftovers" IYKWIM. (sorry about the TMI)
good luck - sounds like you are very organised and have it all sorted.

    Hey Anney,

I think every second day between days 17 and 22 sounds good too, I just don't want to miss the right day and have to wait SOOOOO long until the next cycle. Everyone talks about the TWW being hard (which I'm sure it is), but I think the waiting from AF arriving to the next O seems forever too!

In relation to EWCM, I see it clearly sometimes (about two days before the OPK line appears), and other times I just see more jelly like globs. I think it indicates the same though, I guess as soon as I see anything resembling EW, jump to it

As much fun as TTC is, I don't want to seem like I'm hounding DH to come to bed early, and take all the fun out of it. I'm trying not to get totally obsessed by it all, but it's pretty hard not to when you want it so bad!

Well, it's day 8 today, so only 9 days to go before the action starts. Wish me luck

    Hi Darily,

I too have a 35 day cycle like you and the days you have been DTD sound just right to me. We would only do it every second day though, not every day. As Anney said, the little swimmers can live up to five days so doing it every day through this period can be a bit of overkill. You want the best swimmers you can. To me it was about quality, not quantity. DH quited liked the idea of every second night LOL!! He would be happy to have a rest on the off night as he new the next night was "sex" night! Isn't that just charming LOL!! Good luck with your trying and I hope you have the positive you wish for sooner than later.

    Thanks Nita,

I think I'm going to take your advice and try on days 17, 19, 21 and maybe 22 for good luck

That should leave plenty of little swimmers hanging around if I Ov on CD20 or CD21, which seems to be the pattern.

I'll let you know if I get 1st time lucky!

    Have a great day.

I guess I am different! Although every other day should be ok, I have done a little research and the more its done increases chances so says my dr. but your ok as long as you do it 2-3 days so your fine. I disagree I don't think everyday is overkill, my DH and i have done it everyday since July 1 with exception to 2 days but it hasn't been all for ttc we just really enjoy eachother ALOT. Good luck with your ttc journey.

    Hi Zionsmum,

What a cool name, Zion, I like it!

Sounds like you and your partner are having a ball . . good on you!

I REALLY want to do everything I can to make this attempt a success, so I might just see how we feel each day in the fertile week, and take it as it comes. I guess to much can't hurt, unless there's truth in the theory that decrease in concentration if you try every day.

I might just sit DH in the corner and give him a yell when I need him. He'll LOVE that
