    AF and Breastfeeding (TMI Warning)

I gave birth in on the 4th June and am fully BFing my DD. About 2 - 3 weeks ago I wipes and there was a light reddish tinge. Happened for about 3 days. I thought that AF was definatly on her way. but 3 weeks later nothing! How long does it take for AF to return? Could that have been am implantation bleed? We have only BD about 5 times since the birth and it took 12 months TTC with our DD#2.

We are TTC #3 when nature thinks its the right time. And if we are PG then I want to start taking Elevit etcetc..

Thanks for your help with this!

    Hi,
Not sure if it would be that, but if you are fully BF, you should probably continue taking Elevit anyway.
I got AF back approx 6 weeks after DS was born and he was fully breastfed.

I didn't get Af for about almost a year both times when BFing - it's different for everyone. A gf of mine got hers after about 8 months, another got hers around 3 months. Probably worth testing just in case if you think there's a risk though.

Oh, thanks for posting this thread. I just discussed it with my dh, and seeing as we are in the same boat, when I see the health nurse Tuesday, I'll be getting tested too.

    Best wishes

I still havent got mine back at almost 6 months. You could still have just been reducing your uterus and losing some blood that way.

I did a preg test last night and it was BFN so I was quitely pleased as I'd like to get my AF back before we start TTC #3 as we're going to "try" for a boy lol.. im not sure how successful the methods are but it will be fun trying. I dont mid what we have as I'm sure liitle Kenie would love a little sister.

I had DS at the end of April and AF returned yesterday, a couple of weeks ago I had some spotting and low cramps and thought it was coming but I'm guessing it was ovulation spotting, since AF has just arrived - my first non-drug induced AF in over 2 years, WOOHOO!!!!

I bf Will for 13 months and AF didn't show up until about a month after i'd stopped bf. Another one showed up 3 weeks later then nothing since then :-( (8 weeks) as we are ttc#3 and have no idea where we are - grrrrr (and getting a bfn when i test each week it satys away)
