    Question Aromatherapy for TTC

Ive come across the following information

Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils extracted from plants and can be administered in a number of ways, including massage, as a bath oil and through vaporisation. Because essential oils are concentrated they are generally mixed with a base oil such as almond or grapeseed for use. Essential oils are used alone, or more commonly, in a blend designed for a specific purpose. Different essential oils have different actions, including anti-inflammatory, sedating, stimulating and immune-enhancing.
Aromatherapy is thought to aid in regulating women's fertility cycles and can also be beneficial for its relaxing and stress relieving properties. People wishing to use aromatherapy to treat infertility, should consult a qualified practitioner as some essential oils should not be used in pregnancy.
So just wondering what people have you used and do they feel like they have had any results from it.

    Hi there!

I have a bit of knowledge on this and know that clary sage is known to be able to bring on menstrual bleeding and labour... it should never be used in pregnancy unless as a birthing oil to bring on labour.

There are a lot of essential oils you can not use during pregnancy but i havnt heard of it being used to aid fertility...

I guess if you are anxious and stressed about the whole ttc journey then massages might help relax you.. I have massages often due to a bad back but it still took me 7 mths to fall pregnant??? Good question though!!

I think the only real safe one you should use in pregnancy (and after the first trimester) is a bit of lavender... must be so careful.

Hi Summer, I think any way that you can destress and come to a state of balance within yourself must be a help towards conceiving. Having said that I'm a big believer in the therapeutic powers of essential oils, and I reckon there must be some good blends out there that can affect the pituitary or hormonal balance in the same way that a herbal concoction might. But I think it's probably a very individual thing and worth going to see a specialised aromatherapist for...
    :-)
