Clomid question

Are OBGYNs the only Drs that can prescribe clomid or gan GPs prescribe it too?

Dh and I want to TTC #3 and have the go ahead from our GP BUT we need clomid to conceive and I will have to wait weeks to get into my OBGYN just for a script. Wondering if my GP can give it to me instead, I forgot to ask her at my last appt.

some GP's are authorised to prescribe clomid, but not all - i think it's something you'd have to ask your GP directly. i know of one BB member who was able to get a script through her GP with a special authorisation number so you'd definitely have to query your own GP. i'm not sure if it was because she'd previously had it prescribed by an OBGYN or whether it was something new for GP's being able to prescribe it...
