    Confused as heck

Hi there! This is my first post, so hi to all. I am a 43 year old mum of two girls and this is my fifth pregancy. I have miscarried twice before. Once when I was 32 and when I was 40. I had my first child at 24 way back in 1990 and my second in 2000. I am pregnant again and was cautiously happy about the whole situation.

Then the bleeding began. I thought I was 8 weeks and sailing along when I started to bleed. Not heavy, but enough to be visible on a pad (sorry about the gory details). Down to the hospital we trotted where an ultrasound was ordered for the next day. By the time of the ultrasound, my bleeding stopped and there was a glimmer of hope. The sonographer could not find a heartbeat, but said not to be concerned as the size of the bub was one of a 6 week old and it was still too early to tell. I know I was 8 weeks, but she said I may have my cycles wrong. I dont count the days between periods normally, but I know I get them monthly.

The bleeding started again. Not heavy, but there all the same. I went to the doctors the day after the ultrasound and had a blood test. My hormone levels are up high, that of a pregnancy between 6 and 16 weeks. Another test will be done on Friday to check the levels again.

The bleeding started on Sunday. It is now Thursday. Still light, pinkish brown and just plain annoying. I am in limbo with absolutely no idea what is going on. But my gut feeling is that the baby stopped at 6 weeks. I have lost my sore boobs, my morning sickness and I feel "normal". Plus I have had a lingering headache. Not a bad one, but just a lingering one.

I don't expect answers, just wondering if someone has had a similar experience. Happy or sad outcome, it doesn't matter. I have resigned myself to the fact that it may not be and I am coping extremely well, considering the uncertainty.

Regardless of the outcome, I look forward to chatting about my previous birth and baby experiences, which are still fresh in my mind. Even the fun and games of my oldest daughter's birth.
