Not sure if this belongs here or not, but as we're currently TTC, I figured this was the best place to put it.
I'm a bit confused. AF arrived last friday exactly on 14dpo according to FF and the O temp rise (fridays temp was 36.4), but it was just light spotting for the entire day from 10:30am when it arrived until about 3 in the morning (when I woke up to go to the loo). Normally I only have light spotting for 4-6 hours only, if I even get spotting. Usually it starts off heavy, but the previous two cycles I had a couple of hours of spotting.
On Saturday the bleeding was heavier - though still not as heavy as normal - and bright red, with small dark/black looking clots.
That night I got sick with a gastro virus, and spent all that night and half of sunday bringing up everything I drank - I didn't eat anything until lunch time when I could keep things down. By this point AF was pretty much non-existant, just a very very light brown, mucousy spotting.
Having not slept I considered not doing my temp, but ended up doing it anyway - it was 39 degrees!
By evening AF was still very very light brown, mucousy spotting.
Monday I was feeling a lot better, still weak, but able to eat a bit more than just plain toast and drink more than just water. Temp was down to 37.3, AF was slightly heavier - Pinkish with a hint of Bright Red in the middle of the morning and the middle of the afternoon and a few small dark/black clots. By evening it had completely finished.
I didn't even have AF for a full 4 days - Normally it lasts for 6-7 days, I have never in my life had an AF this short before even when really sick.
Also, my BB's are still really sore like they are after I 'O' - sharp stabbing pains, stinging pains, nipples are a bit sensitive still - but I'm pretty sure that I'm not preg as two HPT's - one on monday and one on wednesday - were BFN's. I still get a bit crampy down there too.
I was wondering if anyone else TTC had had this happen to them and I was also wondering if they ever found out what caused it? I have a doctors appointment on Monday, but I'd like others thoughts on this and a list of questions/ideas I should bring up with the doctor as I can't think of a thing to ask her other than "What caused this? And how has it affected my insides? And can I still keep TTC?".
sounds like yoou've had a rough time you poor thing!! AF and gastro together - monster!
I see you wrote this a few days ago, so i'm hoping that you've gone to the doctor by now and figured out whats going on!
but if you haven't - i would guess that either you are pregnant and the hpts you've used haven't been sensitive enough/didn't work correctly/body not producing enough hcg etc etc
or (and hoping this ISN'T the case) it could possibly be a very early m/c? i've heard (from gfs that have had them) that it's common to pass out large clots. this can result in a BFN hpt (as most detect 50-100miu), but a blood test at the doctors can confirm for you if you have produced any hcg at all. (my gf had an early m/c, and only confirmed thats what it was as her blood test showed about 30miu hcg, next week was <10miu)
hope evrything works out for you love!!
Thanks MsKitten. I went to the doctor and had BHCG etc, all came up as negative, so I wasn't preg, thankfully. I now think it may have been a cyst as I am currently 3dpo again, and the stinging on my left side disappeared after I O'd this cycle. Seems that cysts can mess up AF, so I'm just hoping that it was just that as my current doctor won't do any other tests on my hormones/fertility because of my age and because I have had one successful preg since my m/c's.
Just keeping my fingers crossed for this cycle now
