Anyone on meds that shouldn't be taken during ttc & pregnancy?
How long were you supposed to be off the meds before you could ttc?
I'm currently on Anti-d's and I'm not supposed to take it while ttc or pg.

There are anti-depressants that can be taken during pregnancy. If the ones you are on are not suitable, ask for an alternative.
I don't want to be on any meds Hotl. The alternative (Zoloft) has been found to have a high incidence of miscarriage and new research shows links between SSRI's and ASD... So a total no go!
The increased risk of m/c is unsubstantiated. Given that noone knows what the baseline of m/c actually are, it's difficult to know if there's an increase to that rate.
As for the link to ASD. There is a link between ASD, genetics, maternal diet especially gut health, ultrasound, cord clamping and a number of other things. None of which are 100%, all of which could be correct or incorrect.
I've done a lot of personal research into this as I am paranoid about what I expose myself to. In my case, I had 2 children with fatal abnormalities when I wasnt on ADs and the risk to both mum and bub of untreated depression is much higher than the risks of ADs (multiple research papers have found this). Pregnancy is hard enough, and for me it's a time of extreme anxiety. All of which mean, for me, it's better to be on ADs than not.
It's an individual choice. I'd talk to a psychiatrist before making that decision. You can call Rodney White at Monash Medical Centre. He's brilliant at advising what is ok or not during pregnancy.
Good luck
Thanks LionsandBears. I'm the same, suffer from extreme PND related anxiety and OCD, but I know that this anxiety will be made worse if I continue the tablets. It is so true what you say, so many things (like ultrasounds etc) shows an increased risk, but here it is more for my peace of mind.
I will talk to my Psychiatrist, but unfortunately I can only see him again in March and we really want to start ttc in June/July.
I am on different medications (not anti-ds), but had to weigh up the benefits and risks of taking the meds vs not taking the meds during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Sourcing information was really important to me. If you can't see your psych, do you have a GP who can research medications for you? Rodney Whyte also helped get information for me. Having supportive carers will be important whatever your decision.
take care
