    could i be pregnant????

Hey Every1 :-) i came across the forum while looking for some answers online and thought it wouldnt hurt to ask for a few opinions. Ill start with a little info about me.. Iv just turned 25 years old and have been married a few months.. After the wedding we talked about trying for a baby and i came of my pill seen our gp and started talking folio acid, although a few weeks ago we decided to delay trying for a baby until April (i will have been in my job a year then) and had been using condoms.. I had my period on boxing day just past & two days after when it was almost over we had unprotected sex with me knowing its not impossible to get pregnant on your period although unlikely. On Tuesday there just past (5 days ago) i woke up feeling fine and was getting the bus to work when i felt waves of nausea, i had to get of the bus a stop early as i thought i was going to vomit ,i made it to work &the nausea was so bad i was sent home with me thinking i had a tummy bug, on Wednesday i took a preg test just to out my mind at ease and it was negative,Thursday two days later i was no better & went to see my gp he said it was most likely a tummy bug and gave me cyclizine tablets for the sickness and said that my blood pressure is very low and to drink plenty to get it up. These have not helped im sickly all day long, very weak and so tired i can't keep my eyes open and can't be bothered with any1 and have only left the house twice from Tuesday which isn't like me at all i can never normally sit still. Then i came across online that you wouldnt get a positive test to 2 weeks after conception anyway and that it is possible to have morning sickness right away and not at around 6weeks etc....... or am i just being paroinod??????? Any advice at all would be great xxxx.......

it is possible that you are pregnant. I had morning sickness well before a positive pregnancy test at 4 weeks. You would have had to ovulate very early in your cycle though, so I wouldn't stress to much just yet. I sometimes find that building up to and after ovulation I get shocking waves of all day nausea but I put that down to the increase in progesterone, the nausea continues to AF arrives.

    Hi,

I'm trying to understand the dates that you've given us... Cycle day (CD)1 was boxing day, and you had unprotected sex on CD3, right, when your period was almost over. That would make you CD 14 today (Monday), is that right? And the nausea and vomiting started on CD 8?

How many days is your usual cycle? Most of us ovulate around 12-14 days before our next period starts, and sperm can live up to 5 days inside you. So IF you have a really short cycle of 20 days and a short luteal phase of 12 days, you MIGHT have had a sperm from CD 3 meet your egg when you ovulated on CD8. BUT it's generally accepted that pregnancy symptoms don't start until after implantation - even if it fertilises, you're not pregnant unless the egg implants, and that generally happens 6-10 days after ovulation. So in the unlikely scenario I've described, implantation could be today at the earliest, which means any symptoms you've been having for the last 5 days are not going to be related to pregnancy from sex on CD3.

Having said that, are your bleeds always so short? Some women fall pregnant and have a light bleed which they mistake for a period.

You are right, though, saying that morning sickness can start before a positive test, though not before implantation.

It sounds to me most like some nasty, unpleasant tummy bug, for which you should see your GP again soon, if it doesn't respond to the medicine he's given you already. If you see him again ask him for a blood test to check for pregnancy, just in case, and make sure any medication he gives you is safe to take when pregnant, until you get blood test results back.

    I hope that helps.

I'm confused too... but then I re-read this bit...

... I had my period on boxing day just past & two days after when it was almost over we had unprotected sex with me knowing its not impossible to get pregnant on your period although unlikely. On Tuesday there just past (5 days ago) i woke up feeling fine and was getting the bus to work when i felt waves of nausea...
So you DTD two days after AF had finished? Is that right? Which was Tuesday 5 days ago... which would have been Tuesday 3/1/12? Which mades it CD9.

Semen can live for a couple of days... so it is quite possible you are pregnant! And it is quite possible that the test won't show up positive until after your period is due!

ETA... wait, I don't think I read it right either! When did you DTD?
