    Hi December

i didnt take folic acid 4 weeks before conception with either of my children
And even when i knew i was pregnant somes days i forgot in the first 12 weeks.

DD turned out fine and i have no worries #2 will too.

i wouldnt stress too much over it.

It is only a reccommendation and you get folate from a lot of your normal foods like greens and cereals eetc anyhow.

I didn't as mine was a surprise bub too. My Dr told me that if you begin taking supplements as soon as you find out there will still be benefit to the bub and not to fret too much about what you missed out on taking.
As long as from now on you take care of yourself then you shouldn't have anything to worry about

Lexie was an unplanned pregnancy for us, and I had not been taking any folate at all.

I had my bloodtests (triple tests) done as early as I could, and then had a CVS at 13 weeks.

That gave me the all clear for chromosonal issues.

I then had the morphology scans at 19 weeks.......and she was perfect. She does have a deep sacrel dimple which initially caused some concern with her lower spinal cord, but it has all been checked out with a paedeatrician, and at 20 months she is the most cheeky, energetic, funny and affectionate little toddler......

I wish you all the very best: I know how nerve wracking it can be.

No probs here! Only stared taking Floate once I found out I was pregnant, an dDS is perfect. No problems whatsoever. If you are eating a well balanced diet, you shouldn't really worry too much about the folate anyway. It's just an extra

My #1 wasnt planned at that well (first cycle off the pill got BFP, thougth it may take a bit longer than that ) and my third pregnancy was unplanned - so both times i was not on any folate.....

Yep, the balanced diet is as important if you ask me....

    Oh....and my girls are perfect.....(modest mum ).
