    Diabex

    Hi everyone,

I have been on diabex for about a month taking 1 tablet a day. Last night I increased the dose as per my doctors instructions. Since last night I've been feeling a little sick. Anyone else been on this medication and had the same thing? And did it eventually go away?

    Hi Tara,

I take diabex. I take the XR version. My dr said to start on 1/2 tablet and increase it by 1/2 every three weeks. When I got to 2 & 1/2 tablets, I started feeling sick so I cut back to 2 & was fine.

    Hi Tara,

Like Rowellen, im taking Diabex XR - im now on 2 tablets daily, but initally i started on one and had to take that to see how my stomach reacted to it. i did feel ill initially but it soon passed (took just over a month ) - are you on it for pcos, insulin resistance, regulating cycles?

Me. It went away in time. Be vary careful what you are taking it with - too many carbs and you're likely to have problems.

    Diabex

I have insulin resistance and pcos. I haven't been watching my diet as well as I should so I'm trying to follow a more low gi diet. So hopefully the sick feeling will go away. I didn't have any problems on 1 tablet

Tara, I was on 3 tablets a day when TTC in conjuction with Clomid I did get side effects but they went away after a while but would come back if I ever ate cheese, white bread, chips etc. So went on full low GI diet seemed to make me feel better. This was not the XR version wasnt around when I was takign it in 2005. Hope you feel better soon.

I take diabex XR, have done for 6yrs. I found I was nauseas if I didn't take it with food. Best time for me is at night with my dinner. When not pregnant I have been known to have to increase to a 1500mg dose and it stops the nausea. I do sometimes feel very hungry in the morning though depending on what my dinner was the night before. At the moment I am on 250mg as I found I just couldn't eat at all (no appetite at all - normal dose is 1 tablet 500mg) in early stages of PG. Also when I first starting increasing I would do one day inc increase the following old dose until I felt better on the mornings I had the increased dose.
