Do you take after your mum???

For those that have the opportunity to talk to their mum about ttc, have you found your pregnancy or ttc journey was similar? Been chatting to my mum.. She found ttc very easy and fell quickly with both me and my brother. But she had terrible terrible morning sickness (well, all day sickness she called it) lol

Yes, I was very similar to my mum. We both conceived very easily and had quite short labours, she had morning sickness though and I didn't really have any.

    Not at all.

Mum has a wrong shaped uterus, cysts, PCOS, one ovary working, miscarriages and major problems concieving.

I have an "extra large" uterus (discovered during a scan for something else) and fell pregnant with P first try (after 4 months off the pill to let my cycle regulate).

However, Mum had Hyperemisis (sp) and I've been it hospie for it with both pregnancies also.

Her labour with my sister was on and off (no idea with mine as I was an emergency C-sect at 25 weeks) and my labour with Palmer, while not on and off (constant), was 36 hours.

I don't know, I've never spoken to my Mum about it. I do know tho, she had my half sister accidentally at 16. Miscarriage, me, miscarriage and then my sister. There is 18 months between us so I'm guessing no issues falling pregnant.

Mean while I've been TTC'ing for almost two years now.

Although I do not talk to my mum now, I do know that she really had no problems in falling pg, had my sister at 16 then there is only 18 months difference between my eldest sister and my next sister, I do know mum had several miscarriages between then and having me 5 years later, I know she then had some more miscarriages, then there is another 5 years and my brother who was actually an accident apparantly my mum was on the pill at the time.

Me I have been TTC for 18 months.

Interesting thread CC. I hope you take after your mum and fall quickly. Fingers crossed for your BFP!

My mama tried for seven years. She had severe endometriosis and was told she could never have children. She always told me I was her 'miracle baby' which is really lovely. She had several miscarriages after me and never went to term again. My little bro is adopted.

I've only been trying for six months so I'm not sure, though I suspect I might have endo.

Big hugs to the long-term TTC'ers.

My mum had no issues falling with me or my sister (my sister died of spina bifida at 7 weeks old) but it took her over 12 months to fall with my brother.

I know that I was born at 37 weeks and my brother was born at 42 weeks. My sister was premmie, but I can't remember how many weeks along mum was when she had her.

Sister was born via c-section, I was a forceps baby and brother was natural.

In a word: No. And here's why:

My mum had me on her 16th birthday. Haha, so not exactly a planned pregnancy. And she just didn't "get" my TTC issues and was probably the most insensitive person out of everyone. It happened for her, it should have happened easily for me.

However, the Drs wanted her to have a hysterectomy after I was born (at 16!! ) because she was so messed up from her c-section. But she went on to have my sister 5 years later with no trouble at all, and then had her hysterectomy at 27.

She had to have c-sections for both of us. Me at 36 weeks and my sister at 38 weeks. The reason she had to have c-sections is because she had labour induced seizures.

Nope! Mum decided to go off the pill and was pregnant 2 weeks later, we tried for 5 years with IVF and still no bubba (she turned up later)
Mum has no idea about how long labour was, shes back from when you apparently laboured for 'days' lol my first labour was short and sweet. She doesnt know when I was due (who knows what thats about!) and DD was born 38 + 4 weeks.
Mum had moderate morning sickness, I suffered hyperemesis

No. Mum fell pg 6 weeks after stopping the pill with me, and 3 weeks with my brother. She had high blood pressure with me and was on bed rest for a month (sorry mum!) before being induced. I fell pg three months after TTC, m/c at 9 weeks, then was another few months before DD was conceived. No high blood pressure, but spotting throughout. We both had very mild nausea, not for long, and mum had no cravings with me, but lots with my brother. I had no cravings, so we'll see what happens if there is a second time around.

Yes. Both Mum & I are very fertile. My Mum has had 5 children and miscarried twins between #4 & #5. Mum & I are very similar in how we birth too. We like the same birthing position and both enjoy labour. My Mum had 2 vaginal births, an emergency C-sect, then 2 VBACs. I have had all vaginal births so far. However, my labours are shorter than my Mums. My Mums longest was 36hrs with me (eldest child), and my longest was 7.5hrs with my DS1.

I'm not like my mum in TTC but hope I am for labour - I took the longest of her four kids at a whopping 4 hours. My sisters weren't so lucky with a very bad 17 hours and a 44hour labour.

I'm nothing like my mum either. She took 2 years to fall pregnant with me and over 12 months with my brother. Mum had short labours and we were both born after our due dates (although I was induced). Mum also developed preeclampsia with me (hence the induction). On the other hand, I fell pregnant first month of trying, miscarried then took 8 months to fall with DD. I did have a short labour but DD was born 10 days early and I had a complication-free pregnancy.

I think the fact that both mum and dad were smokers and I'm a nonsmoker had a lot to do with our differences.

    Nope
My tummy mum (My non-genetic mother didnt have any tummy bubs due to a genetic condition, so my tummy mum carried us all) fell pregnant the FIRST TIME of trying, her longest labour was 90 mins, shortest was 45 mins (and with my little sister she thought she had a mild tummy ache, and nearly delivered her in the loo!) She had farily normal morning sickeness.
And my older sister fell pregnant with her twins the first WEEK of trying, had a very eay 5 hour labour. No morning isckness at all.
I on the other hand took nearly 10 years to fall pregnant, had hyperemesis, spent 3 months of the pregnancy in hospital, had a 3 day labour (21 hours of active labour) and a very traumatic birth.
My little sister doesnt like her chances haha.
