So we are TTC number 2! YAY!
BUT im struggling with trying to cut out my coffee! DD is nealry 17 months old and I am working 2 days a week and I find I need my daily coffee!
One the days I work I buy a coffee from the bakery but other than that I only drink 1 instant a day and maybe 2 tea's a day. I find I need the caffine hit these days!
When I was TTC DD I went off all caffine - but I just cant this time around!
So Did you go off caffine / coffee when TTC?
If not how mach did you drink?
Do you think it made a difference?
Cheers
Kate

I did all the stop drinking coke and coffee but now at the 2yr mark still trying to concieve I am back to drinking Coffee. At the moment 1-2 a day and I will probably continue that until I get a BFP and then stop. Don't know what good it will do but.
Um no, never did anything different TTC from my normal life - just went about on my normal business - with more DTD chucked in .. haha
So no - didn't make a difference to me.
And woohoo btw![]()
I drank coffe while TTC all of my children. I stopped completely once pregnant though/
Thanks ladies!
Im not doing much out of the ordinary either - all though I am trying to eat better but that for me as well as a new bubba.
I have heard and read that some ppl believe that to much caffine can stop you from ovulating..
There is a "safe" amount that you can drink while TTC and preg isnt there?
I must admit that while I was preg I could not get enough Iced Coffee so I drank i bottle a day! So I guess that amount was ok for me!

I've never done anything special or given anything up to TTC, despite my age.
However, if I'd had problems getting pregnant you can bet that I would have been doing everything recommended including giving up everything that you're meant to give up and taking any weird herbal concoction.
Generally though, I think that most people won't have problems even if they maintain their caffeine habits.
No I never stopped drinking my 1 real coffee every day - not when TTC and not when pregnant and not when breastfeeding and not ever![]()
Seeing that I never stopped I can't say that anything made a difference but I didn't have any trouble TTC so I assume that the coffee wasn't an issue.
Looks like I'm different to everyone else!
I did stop drinking coffee while TTC #1 and #2. I also continued to stop (lol does that make sense?) for the first tri... then eased back into it.
DH read somewhere that any drugs, including caffeine and acohol, can do the most damage in the first tri, on top of possibly affecting conception, so we decided to stop together. He figured that was fair
My philosophy was that it probably wouldn't do anything if I did continue but that whatever I could try and do to help the process wasn't a bad thing.
Not that I'm saying anything negative at all about continuing... now that I'm into my third tri I'm back on coffee, 1 or 2 a day, and even a half glass of wine every now and then.
To each their own!
I feel the same way... I've switched to decaf in the last couple of months because it's coming up to 12 months since we started TTC.
In saying that DH and myself only ever drink one cup of coffee a day each.
Every now and then I'll have a normal cup - if Im with someone who doesn't know I'm TTC it's too hard to explain why I'm on decaf!!
I think as long as you're not drinking to excess it's ok...
As OceanPrincess says, each to their own!
I drank coffee when TTC DS but stopped when I found out I was pregnant. But this time I haven't stopped. We've been trying for 9 months now so I'm thinking about switching to decaf. My naturopath keeps telling me to stop as she believes it would help to stop.
I substituted to hot chocolate about 8 months ago as I read something about coffee and fertility. Stopping coffee hasn't helped me.
My friend did IVF and drank coffee all the way through. Her FS said he didn't believe in coffee having an impact
I think it more how long you have been TTC as once you hit over that dreaded 12mth mark your willing to do anything to get that baby...
I have stopped all caffine with 3 of mine... Ds was the only one I drank coffee like a fish... but that was before I realised it could affect my ovulation... its worked for me... well kinda, its still takes a Looooooong time to work, but I feel it helps me...
see how you go, if your still TTC in 6mths you might find the motavation to give up...
All the best in TTC your next baby...
I gave up coffee earlier this year when I found out I was pregnant after my miscarriage I still can't stomach it, we always take a while to concieve so I'm hoping it makes a difference but I have heard it takes a few months to really take effect with your body
Oooooh Noooooo, I just couldn'tDrank it TTC, pregnant and post natal as well. Loved my morning coffee in hospital, I would send DH down to the cafe to get me a real coffee.
The only thing I did while pregnant in the early months was have a mocha instead of cappuccino as I didn't like the taste of caffeine, I still wanted it though.
I was totally addicted to caffeine when TTC DS. When I found out I was pg I stopped cold turkey and haven't taken it up again apart from the occasional drink. I don't like coffee so my beverage of choice was pepsimax. Probably worse with all those chemicals lol! I had a headache for a week after giving up but I thought I'd rather have a headache myself than have DS have one when he's born. I've tried to quit before so I knew what it would be like but didn't have that additional motivating factor to stay quit.
I never drank coffee before I had DD1 (the sleep deprivation nearly killed me, I soon realised the only way to get through those 3-hourly wakeup was COFFEEEEEE), but I gave up when TTCing DD2 because I was drinking lots of coffee when I had an early m/c not long after DD1 was born. In all honesty, I don't think the coffee was the deciding factor in my miscarriage, I was under a lot of stress and probably not fully recovered from giving birth so I don't think bub would have stuck regardless of how much caffeine I was consuming, but I had read a bit about caffeine being linked to miscarriage so when we decided to TTC again I stopped drinking it. I think it's an individual choice, a risk we all calculate according to our individual situation, itms. Best of luck!!
Thanks for eveyones imput! I do have decaffe in the house and I try and drink it when I can if i just want the taste. Im the mornings I have been having a cup of tea but on work mornings I really like my real coffee - my reward for going to work i guess! LOL
I have scaled down my coke so I am being alot wiser and more consious now that we are TTC, but I do like a real coffee!
I prefer tea in the the arvos now for some reason..
Thanks again for all your advice!'
