Doing ICSI - a bit scared now of what I just read

Hi I have has icis once and failed was just reading up on it and came across this on a Sydney internet page which has really scared me has anyone heard this before ;;;(With ICSI the scientist picks the one he/she thinks looks good, but there's a lot you can't tell about sperm by just looking at them. There is some evidence that ICSI might results in more birth defects but the science is inconclusive - they basically haven't been doing it for long enough.)

We did icsi and I remember reading the same. They have admitted there is no conclusive evidence to the above and they use it to improve fertilisation rates. I decided for us that the improved fert rates was a step in the right direction for our journey so we went for it.

oh thankyou, can I ask how many times did it take you to conceive, I lost my last egg the day before I was due to go in for transfer,it costed us $7000 out of pocket

Sorry just saw your question. We only did the one round of icsi/ivf and unfortunately it wasn't successful.
I actually fell pregnant unassisted with my DD the very next month though while waiting to start my second ivf cycle.
Perhaps others can come and share their success stories with you around icsi.

We have done icsi for all four of our cycles, successfully with DD on the third round a few years ago. We have just done our fourth round for baby number 2 & luckily that worked as well

icsi is only the solution to one of our issues though, but I'm certainly glad we did it.
I found on the ivf journey that there is a lot of conflicting information out there, but also interesting reads etc. if you have a good FS they will be happy to listen & answer any of your questions/concerns.

There is a lot of conflicting advice, and everyone's situation is different, so what works for one couple won't for another, and yes, like a lot of things in medicine and in fertility there is so much we do not know yet

Thankyou we went back to the drs last week to talk about things he wants to put me on a hormone tablet for a few months we are also booked in with another dr for a second opinion and see what he charges im 24 and my husband is 28
