Question Dr's and what to ask?????

    Ok here goes,
We have been TTC-ing for 10 months now. So its getting on a bit and starting to get a tad bit frustrating and depressing as it does for everyone. Anyway my question is - What do I ask the doctor when I go to see him? Do I ask for BT's. Are there particular ones? Are there other procedures or tests that can be done to determine what the heck is going on with me. Will he dismiss it as its only been 10 months. I just want to be well informed and know what the options are before I get there.
Anyone who has been down this road already and can offer some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Unhappy

    Thanks kim,
First time around we fell preggers within 2 months so it just feels really strange that its taking so long this time. Starts to make me wonder if I am supposed to have another one or not. Wish it would just happen.

Thanks for the info. My doctor is very pro large families so I think he will probably be very helpful with figuring this stuff out. Just feels dumb that I even have to go to a doctor iykwim. Considering last time was no effort whatsoever.

Think I will start charting as you suggested and have a reasonably good idea whats going on b4 i get there.

    Cheers,
    Laura

Lots of women suffer from secondary infertility (having difficulties conceiving after having had a child).

As someone else mentioned most doctors will not investigate til you've been trying for at least 12 months. You could ask for a CD21 blood test. You go to the doctor on day 21 of your cycle and get a BT done for your hormone levels and it will tell you if you have ovulated or not.

Basically once you do get a gp who is willing to investigate it you will just follow what they suggest and then be referred on to a gyno. The gp may also suggest an ultrasound to rule out problems like fibroids, cysts, pcos, endo etc which can interfere with your fertility.
