Hi ever since CD17 and what I think was 'o' day or day after DP has refused to DTD with me. He said "no way can't do it you are incubating." I thought he was being silly until a friend of mine just a few minutes ago on the phone said "We did every right last month, good diet etc, perfect 'o' timing and no DTD in the TWW." Have I missed this rule in all my TTC research over the past 2 years?
There has been talk on this interesting topic before
When we did our first IVF cycle, they said we could DTD from the next day after transfer, if we liked, I didnt feel cumfy with that, but next time I might, be up for a bit of jiggy jigg if the mood arrises.. My big question was the big "O" I was worried that it might misplace a bub, and the doc said " no" women have been BDing and O'ing for centuries, its fine ..

Interesting thread- I too have wondered about this.
I am in a TTW at the moment and have been avoiding DTD since we last did it 3 days prior to O. I have never actually heard anything about risks involved with DTD in the TWW... but I was thinking that, as the sperm is supposed to 'ripen' the cervix, perhaps its best to wait another week or so.....
It may sound silly but I just don't wanna take any chances in the early days!!!
we've been through lots of assisted conception and never advised not to DTD in the TWW - in fact we've had the opposite where we WERE advised to do it!
in all honesty, if you're not trying to get pg, you wouldn't even think of the TWW and would just do it when you want - and it doesn't impact the chances of unplanned pg at all!
FWIW - i've been through 11 assisted conception cycles - due to hubby being away for some of the TWW, we didn't dtd - but in each of the four that took we DTD at least a few times - and for this one, he was home for 8 of the 14 days, and we just went with the flow (the hormone drugs can make a girl VERY playful!) and it had no dire consequence for us!
i read somewhere, can't remember where, that DTD helps somehow with encouraging implantation - would love to remember where i read it though!
yep same experience for me as BG, our clinic said DTD 24 hours after embryo transfer was ok. In fact in our last cycle we DTD a couple of days after transfer of the embryo and we got our very first BFP and it was the only cycle where we were ever brave enough to DTD. the increased blood flow to the uterus may actually help implantation.
i say if you feel comfortable with it, give it a go.
Mmm- good to hear the replies. Perhaps DH and I will get busy then.... Lol.
Feeling a little deflated- was getting continuous low achy cramps for 6 DPO and now I have what seems like a gastro bug. I hope to God the pains I was feeling earlier were the beginning of a BFP and not something I have confused with sore intestines!!
You just can't help but get excited sometimes.....Maybe DTD tonight will cheer me up!
ha ha..
