    Exercise in the TWW?

I wouldn't call myself a vigorous exerciser but I do get a sweat up on my cross trainer...

Can this impinge on conceiving? I'm due to O today and just want to be sure.

    Thanks gals.

Hi Shoegal. I asked my FS about this and she said that whatever level of exercise your body is accustomed to will not affect conception. But I still have my doubts!! I'm really torn between wanting to lose a bit of weight and feeling that the class I do (body pump) might not be so great when TTC.

I think any exercise should be good to your body and i wouldnt think it would effect ttc unless there was extreme measures taken like excessive quick weight loss etc.
Shoegal even in the ttw it would be fine, it's when your pg is further along that precautions need to be taken not to oerheat your body, strain yourself.......
    Good Luck

Thanks mgm and MrsB26, I appreciate the reassurance. I am in the healthy weight range and am not aiming to lose any weight.

Hi Shoegal - I was also told that your normal exercise level is fine but to be on the safe side I toned it down a little from cross training four times a week to just walking my dog a few times a week until I reached 6 weeks pregnant. Good luck with your TWW!

Tonydayl, I am just terrified of jeopardising a possible pregnancy since I didn't even reach 6 weeks last time.

I feel really lazy if I don't exercise but think I won't go hardcore, just nice and easy for now.

    Thanks for your post.

I found exercising was a great way for me to get through the 2 week weight another thing to focus on. I ran 3 or 4 times a week and fell pregnany on my 3rd cycle. A plus also was that by the time I was pregnant I felt really fit and healthy.

    Good luck !

I did BodyPump right up till about 33 weeks (although the uprigt rows were getting a little more like reverse curls!) I DID lower the weights of course. I don't think that exercise in the TWW or even the first tri for that matter is going to hurt much - maybe just drop the intensity a little if you are used to going hardcore - I stopped running and used the bike and cross trainer instead and tried to keep my HR down to 1o 140BPM which is what they suggest you keep it to during pg.

In any case, if it takes you a while to conceive (it took us almost a year) stopping or toning down your regular routine each TWW can be hugely frustrating - I found it quite damaging to my self-esteem and my general mood.

Thanks sportychick, I'm in the TWW and feeling confident. Will let you know how I go.

I'm on my X trainer for about 30 mins every night. I'll check my BPM doesn't go past 140.

Great post, I was actually thinking the same thing seeing I go to the gym 3 days a week on average. I was thinking it might go against me while I'm ttc. Maybe I could tone it down a little too during the ttw.

    thanks for bringing this up

Well, I stuck at my X trainer and got a BFP at 11DPO on Saturday, AF hasn't arrived but it still needs to be confirmed. I'm very nervous after having a MC so hopefully this little munchkin sticks!

I'm soooo excited for you! COngrats! Just keep your heartrate under 140BPM (or roughly there abouts) and don't let your core body temp rise too high. The more moderate exercise you do, the better for a healthy pregnancy and it's good prep for childbirth. And the bubs ikes the endorphins produced during exercise as well. I'm lookijhg forward to reading about your confirmed BFP!!!!!!
