    fertile window

    Hi All,

finally got a fertile sign! How long does the fertile period last until actual ovulation? is it always 3 days or depends on the woman?

    Thanks!!

Depends on the woman... my "fertile window" is every day of my cycle apparently. I have conceived 3 days post period, during ovulation and on the day before my period was due and several more days in between. Not all resulted in ongoing pregnancy but there was conception.

ETA: it would also depend on her partner. I suspect my DH has both a very high sperm count with viability (sperm life in utero) lasting a tad beyond normal... sperm are only meant to survive for a few days? I suspect his live a little longer than that.

Glad it's working for you - I think the window is 3-4 days from what I remember - they do say to DTD every 2nd day - it's hard when it is "forced".

Far out.. Hope that I am not like that, considering I assured DH the other night that I can't get pg cause I am due for AF any time now..

But GL to OP.. Hope it happens for you soon...

DMB: My advice is that if you don't want to fall pregnant then always use protection... I am personally very sceptical of simply using dates/timing and nothing else. Fertility in women varies greatly... but infertility seems to get more attention than hyper-fertility. Good news for women who are ready to fall pregnant as it relieves them of the pressure to DTD everyday of their "fertile window" but if you fell pregnant easily the first time then be extra careful if you don't want to in future.

That's me as well! DD1 was conceived during ovulation, DD2 conceived 2 days post ovulation, DD3 conceived 2 days after my period. So I guess it's different for all women.
    Good luck!

Good luck hun.... I hope you get that BFP soon and we can be bellybuddies together

Yep dtd every 2nd day really gets tiring!! I know how you feel.... it does feel 'forced' after a while..... kinda takes the fun out of it huh...

Wish I was hyper fertile cos ttc sucks .... (although I'm sure it has it's disadvantages too!!)
