just wondering if any one has given acupuncture a go to help TTC. We are just about to see a fertility specialist but have heard great things about acupuncture. Would love to hear what you have to say.
I am in Sydney - any recommendations would be great
I've only had positives with acu - nothing has stuck yet, but as a minimum it gives me time once a week to just be silent and relax. I use a meditation while I am lying there which helps my brain turn of even more. I don't know if it works, but it feels good - sorry I have no recommendations, but like anything- give it a try, it's not for everyone, so if you don't like it, that's okay. But it can't hurt to try.
Ps - if you're heading down the assisted conception path in any way you might like to consider finding someone who is close to your FSs clinic, as its good to have acu as close as possible to before and after an embryo transfer. If not - ignore me but you might like to keep that in mind too - maybe your FS knows a good one close to you?
I used tcm for my issues. I was diagnosed with pcos and my main issue was lack of ovulation.
I tried a Chinese tcm practitioner and it was an intense program of 2-3 times a week for a 1 hour session. He also gave me herbs (which I was a bit hap hazard in taking). He combined acupuncture, cupping and electro-acupuncture. I stuck at it, eventually it was only 1-2 times a week and by 5 months I was pregnant with my dd.
As with all natural therapies you have to be willing to give it time to make your body start functioning properly. DH and I were skeptical at first, so we thought we would give it 3 months and see of their was any improvement with my cycles. There was so we decided to continue. The rest is history
Yes! I have a wonderful Sydney person for you. Very knowledgeable in all assisted fertility treatments and we had success. Private message me and I will share her dets
I started acu after we had been seeing our specialist for 1.5 years. At that point we had been TTC 2.5 years and done 6 IUI, 3 IVF and 1 FET and I had NEVER been pregnant. In the second cycle with acupuncture and chinese herbs, we got a natural BFP. Unfortunately, it was a chem pg, but it was still the closest we had ever gotten!
I continued acu through IVF#4, but that cycle ended up being a disaster and we took a break from assisted TTC for a while. We started seeing a new FS soon after and he did a lap to check for endo (which I had been asking our first specialist about for 2 years and he had repeatedly refused to investigate - turns out I was right and I had severe endo). After the surgery, I started back at acu and we did our 5th IVF (1st with the new Dr) and that gave us DD. I continued the acu throughout the pg and had no complications (until DD flipped back to breech at 39wks), which was great since my medical history makes me high risk for pre-e and GD.
When we started TTC#2, I started back at acu. I was still BF DD, so we weren't planning on seeing the specialist any time soon. Once again, in the 2nd cycle of acu, we got a natural BFP. Unfortunately, again, it was a m/c.
Anyway, the short version of all of that is that we have spent over 5.5 years TTC now (3.5 years TTC#1 and now over 2 years TTC#2) and in that time I've had 3 BFPs. Every single BFP was from a cycle which included acupuncture (which I have been doing on and off since 2009). That's either a heck of a coincidence or the acu is helping...
