First cycle off pill - not ovulating?

Hi All, it is my first cycle off the pill and I had a couple of blood tests to check whether I was ovulating. Turns out I have not. I am a bit concerned having had endometriosis in the past (2 laporoscopies). My gynaecologist seemed to think this was a bit alarming but said we would check again on the next cycle. I am also still yet to get my period (it has now been around 40 days).

I guess I would like to hear other experiences coming off the pill as I would like to think that this is more of a case of the hormones leaving my body and taking time to adjust, rather than assuming that I don't ovulate full stop.

Please share your experiences - did you go straight back to normal cycles or was there a period of adjusting?

Like the PP, I went straight back to regular cycles (a little short for me at first, but regular). It took about 6 months to get back to my normal length cycles. If you're already seeing a GYN, there's not a lot more you can do aside from stay in communication with them and ask for their recommendation.

I actually fell pregnant the first cycle off the pill after 8 years on it!

However I lost that little one in a MC, but then conceived DS the next cycle after that. It may depend on which pill you were on as they all have different levels of hormones in them so it may take a bit of time to adjust if you were on a pill with high levels of hormones.

    Good luck with everything

I was the same as you. It was something like 70days, 60 days and then 100 days.
The pill really mucked me up.

I ended up doing acupuncture and herbs to get it all back to a 30-38 day cycle.

I also charted so at least I could determine I did actually ovulate, just REALLY late, and then it was always a 14 leutal stage.

The gyno I went to was pushing me to go on drugs first to force me to ovulate, but I wanted to sit it out and try things myself. The reality is for some of us with issues prior to the pill, it can make it worse and so it takes a lot longer to cleanse out our bodies. I think it was about 8 months for me.

Hi Hun, when I was trying to conceive my first it took a year after coming off the pill. I assumed I was ovulating and for my last three cycles I did blood tests and got one not ovulating, one maybe and my final, def o'd and that was the cycle I got pg. so I don't really know if I was ovulating at all before that last cycle. I went straight back to regular cycles as well but yeah not sure if I was actually ovulating. In saying that, I never went back on the pill and have managed to get pg first cycle both times since - the pill and I are not good friends. Good luck hunny an do hope it works out for you soon xoxo

Thanks everyone for your responses. It has made me feel a bit better.

I would like to wait and see what happens with my cycles and hope that they return to normal, however just like Little-o, I have a gynaecologist that is pushing drugs to stimulate ovulation. At the same time, I know that with my endo, the longer I am off the pill, the greater my chances of my endo coming back which in turn reduces fertility. Such a horrible disease to have
