You produce CM at various stages of your cycle. It is the relative change in the texture etc. that you are looking for during ovulation. ie. CM is very wet, stretchy and thin at ovulation. Usually referred to as eggwhite texture. CM after AF can be dry, sticky then moving to creamy, wet and finally eggwhite at ovulation. then immediately after ovulation it will dry to maybe creamy, sticky and dry again. HTH.
Anovulatory cycles ( where you don't ovulate) will generally have sticky/tacky to no CM. It is the increase in oestrogen (which signals ovulation) that makes the CM watery. It is quite diffcult to track CM changes if you are BFing and haven't had your first 'normal' cycle yet. Maybe try temping instead? This only gives an indication of ovulation after you have ovulated so I guess it doesn't help much. Sorry, I wasn't much help
Thanks Belle for your info... Over the past couple of days I have had a cloudy stretchy CM, and quite a lot of it... also a lot of creamy CM... But since I'm yet to have a period I am find it hard to read!!
I keep meaning to take my temperature, but keep forgetting!!
