SO DH and I have decided that we will be TTC a brother / sister for Bella early to mid next year (). I will be going off the pill in feb / march next year and then giving my body some time to get back into a natural cycle.
I am going to try and loose some weight and get into an exercise routine to get some health and fittness going.
Are there any other hints and tips that I can start doing now to get myself into tip top shape both physically and mentally to help improve my chances of concieveing??
Good luck with TTC #2!
Getting fit was one thing I really wanted to do before getting pregnant again - I'm sure it would make it all easier... thanks for the reminder
I started taking folate a few months back and switching more personal & home products over to low/no-chem stuff.
I think though that the most important thing is that you're ready for number 2
Yep I hope to loose some weight and get fit - I will start taking my vits at start of next year and just make sure Im eating ok and I will start drinking de-caffe again!
I think with the fitness side of things, just try and add in daily walks. It doesnt have to be anyting strenuous, just something that you are able to upkeep in your lifestyle.
I have started doing some exercise dvds in the lounge room and DD is in her portacot in the lounge room and she thinks its the funniest thing. You could even just dance around the house with Bella. Anything to just get moving.
We have just started this my TTC and the things I'm doing are:
Taking a daily multi with folate, I chose the Fefol Multi-Preg brand after looking at stacks of posts here and then comparing the ingredients. I understand they say its good to start on these a few months before you start TTC, but better late than never in my case.
Daily exercise, so a walk or gardening or somethng that gets the heart pumping. If I lose weight then that's a bonus.
Hydrating, so lots of water which is a good habit to get in anyway, but I'm sure my skin will thank me when it starts stretching.
Waxing, getting all the bits below cleaned up and happy makes for a happy DH when I start on the baby making sex discussions.
Booze reduction, I'm trying to cut this down dramatically as I was having one or two (or three) beers every day. So bad I know. So this is my vice and I'm weening myself down to none at all. Also cutting the caffine to two cups a day max.
Charting my cycle, I'm starting this month on FF, I've purchased a basal thermo and I'm looking out for CM. This might be something you want to do to get in tune with your body anyhow.
Great idea to start thinking about this now to give yourself the best chance!
After falling pg easily (accidently ) first time round, I didn't have so much luck with #2. Even though my cycles were spot on regular and had been from 6months post birth, DH and I spent 9 months TTC before I decided I should do something about it.
I decided to see a chinese doctor for acupuncture and herbs and managed to fall pg first cycle .
It really helped get my body sorted out as you are looking for - even though I didn't realise I needed it! Within a day of starting the TCM I felt my digestion change (improve) dramatically, I slept better, had more energy and found I was looking to eat better food and avoid junk food without even trying! It was really amazing. I had been having twingy back pain which I had been ignoring as it wasn't too bad and the Doc said that this can interfere with conception so she sorted that out too. There were a couple of other little things the TCM also with also that I had not been paying attention to but obviously hindered my chance of conception. Still, overall (apart from the BFP) it was great to feel so physically good and together after the sessions.
My Chinese Doc also suggested giving up caffeine (very difficult for me, but worth it for the result).
Otherwise the other ladies here have posted some excellent suggestions. Good luck!
ETA: Oh and maybe go and get a blood test to check the status of important things like your Rubella immunisation which doesn't always hold... other blood indicators may highlight some things you are missing in your diet too.
