    Hi Kimmi
My hubby and i also carry a faulty gene that with our other parntners did not cause any problems with our children but together we have a 1 in 4 chance of concieving a baby with SLO we have a servere mutation so our babies are affected quite badly and are not compatible with life we did not find this out until after our daughters autopsy and DNA testing we are now about to start PGD IVF so they can test our embryos for the gene and we can have normal embryos put in so we can avoid the stress and heartbreak of waitng for the 12 week test if the ivf does not work we have decided to try naturally after christmas and have the CVS at 11 weeks as now they know what they are looking for we will know early enough to terminate if the baby is affected .
With our daughter i had a CVS and amnio and both came back normal so we had to wait until almost 20 weeks to be sure she would not survive the CVS was painless and easy i had slight period type cramps afterwards the amnio was painful and awful and i would not have one again it is a very stressful thing to go through we are still going through it and we lost Abbi 7 months ago we have our hearts set on a healthy baby so we decided to give the pgd ivf a go first then try naturally if it does not work if there is any questions i can help you with please dont hesitate to ask.
