My husband and I have been trying for our first baby for about 21 months now and we aren't getting any where. I spoke to my doctor and she told me that because I was only 23 years old (at the time) I still have at least 7 years to conceive naturally and there wasn't much point in trying to help just yet because it will happen when it happens.... ummmm Im sorry, but we want to start a family and our age shouldn't come into it (its not like we are only 16!!)
So I am now looking for a good doctor on the south side of Brisbane (preferably) that we can go and talk to about the reasons we are aren't pregnant yet and what we can do to help us on the road towards becoming parents. I don't want to talk to someone about IVF or anything like that, just a first initial consult to get some advice about what could be going on and what we need to do to make it easier... if that makes sense?? Some one who deals with this sort of thing everyday an knows what they are talking about!!!!
Hello,
Sorry I am not in Brisbane so can't offer advice but I just wanted to say that you should stick to your guns. I have just turned 30 and would have liked to have completed my family (want 3 children) by now, due to fertility issues I required clomid at the age of 27 to conceive my DD and am now on puregon injections ttc 2. You are doing the right thing trying to find out what is going on. I hope you find a doctor who will support you, age should not come into it at all!
Hope you get your BFP soon.
Does your previous Dr know how long you have been TTC? Usually any couple who have been trying for over 12 months are entitled to testing. I would see if you can speak to the practice manager at your old surgery and demand that she be told that age does not matter when it comes to fertility testing. It is length of time TTC. I would have told that GP that you want to be FINISHED having children by then and she has no right to tell you when you are 23 that you are 'Too Young'. Just because she is not interested in being a younger mum doesn't mean everyone isn't. I am about to finish my family at 23 and I wouldn't have it any other way. Good luck hun, I hope you get the answers you deserve.
I know a good doctor!
