Irregular cycles & conception

Hi all,

Not sure if this is where I should post this message. My partner and I have been ttc for the past few months. I recently read somewhere that if you have irregular cycles (particularly more than 30-35 days) then there is a high risk of miscarriage.

Has anyone heard about this? My last 3 cycles have been 35; 45; 45 days. Should I be worried? This is also making it hard for me to know when I might be ovulating. Does anyone have any advise?

I too have a cycle thats any thing from 4 weeks to 6 or 7 weeks I have never heard of the higher risk to M/C before but I have had 3 heathy happy babies if that puts your mind to rest...

What I normally do when TTC is take my temp and chart and after a while I get sick of this ( it took 18 mths for DS and 2 yrs for DD1 but only 3 mths for DD2 ) so BHL and I DTD every 2nd night from the end of AF to the start of the next ( but the next has never happened as this has worked every time ) this way we have more chance of catching that egg otherwise its just to hard when you cycle all over the place

Have you thought about trying acupuncture? Heaps of the women on here swear by it for cycle regulation and I am about to start on it myself so I can get off the pill (blurgh).

I've never heard that. I wouldn't let it worry you. I have long irregular cycles too. I temp and check my cm so i know when i'm ovulating.

I wouldn't let that worry you sweet. I can't imagine how it would mean an increased risk of mc.. If you're LP is short (less then 10 days) then you would maybe have some troubles with implantation, but otherwise I can't see how having long cycles would mean having more mc's.

Have you been using some OPKs to give an indication on when you are o'ing? I found they really helped me with my my long and strange cycles...

Thanks for the reassurance. I really needed that. Its good to hear that having long and irregular cycles does not necessarily lead to m/c.

I haven't tried out accupunture for regulation - too scared of needles. It's a nightmare even going to the doctor to have my blood taken...last time I had baby needles

I've purchased an OPK so I'll start using it this month (next week actually). I wasn't sure when I should start using it - do I go on the timing of last cycle (45 days) or to an average calculation for the past 3 months?
