Unhappy It's doing my head in already *Vent*

I am new to this whole TTC scene. Oscar was easy as he just "happened", so we have not had to TTC as such.

I have joined FF and am doing my research and it is honestly doing my head in. How on earth am I going to do this? For something that I was so excited about why am I getting all worked up about not BDing on the right days etc?! Is this normal?

AF is on her way so I know I need to start from there but there is just too much info... can someone give me a step by step manual and give me days and times

I know how you feel, but I have been temping for a couple of years now and here is what I do.

Don't worry too much about all the jargen, just start taking your temp and recording it.
    To start:

Get a pen and a piece of paper and put it on your bedside table
Make sure your thermometer is there too
Take your temp orally or vaginally ( I prefer vaginally)
Write your temp, with the time and date.

During the day observe your cervical mucas (cm)...take a note and put it next to your temp for that day. Some times it is hard to judge your cm and this takes practice.

After a few days put your information into FF

    Notes:

Take your temp when you wake up in the morning before you move. Try and take you temp after a good 3 hours of sleep. This is hard if you are up and down with another bub. Note in FF any things that may affect your temp such as lack of sleep, drinking, illness.

Don't obssess over a couple of days of temps, it is the whole cycle pattern that is important.

It may take a couple of cycles before you can see a ovulation pattern.

After you are confident with this process then start reading...FF have short course

if you can, get hold of a copy of "taking charge of your fertility".
It has a huge amount of info on charting, there is also a CDrom you can get i think its about $40 (which is cheaper than the book)

Love your post Oshani same for me

This is all like rocket science and made to be a whole lot harder than it need be. I also find myself rolling on the floor in laughter.

The obession with testing charting temps and god knows what else, I just hope that it never becomes that impossible.

It having a baby really suppost to be that clinical, just gives me a headache

Onlyone - I completely understand how you feel and unfortunately charting does tend to place a more clinical angle on the business of ttc.

My point of view is if charting is placing too much stress or anxist on your ttc journey then don't do it. Reason being your less likely to conceive if you are stressed iykwim.

On the other hand once you start charting it can become obessive and you'll find it hard not to chart.

    My advice:

DONT CHART!!! Just BD when you or DH are in the mood and you will catch that egg when you leasts expect it. GL

    hi there,

i am also new to the whole TTC thing or i should say i just got my head around setting a time when i am ready to start (which will be Dec this year ) however i don't think i will be the charting temping person either - i agree that it takes the entire ?loving? out of it and makes it very technical/clinical.

I do want to mention thought, that i am only speaking for myself, don't want to offend anybody. I am a strong believer in "doing whats right for you" and therefore don't judge others if they are not on the same page

I have been looking for a thread like this ever since i joined so now that i found it i really hope it will keep on getting longer and i will pop in ever so often till i go off the pill and start my BD, only thing i am planning to do is the dentist, the folic acid thing and a trip to the gyn to make sure i got all the important injections ...
