    Question Just a few questions

    Hey All,

Not sure if this is the right spot so Mods please feel free to move if its not, I was looking for the spot about contraceptives but I must have my blokey eyes on today (having a boy look)

DD is still primarily BF she has a puree breaky after the first morning feed and generally has 7-10 feeds through the day only lasting a few mins except for her first and last feeds which take longer, the occasional over night feed.

I am on microlut {mini pill} but I think its playing havoc with me as I have been really "down" for no reason and its progressively getting worse, I am sure it has nothing to do with DD or my life as a SAHM as I thoroughly enjoy being around home and my DD. I have been on the f ull pill before but never the mini pill and I am convinced its the pill thats the major contributer to how I have been feeling (despite the time of the year)

I want to come off the pill for a few months to see "if" I am right.

Now, I haven't had a proper period since dd was born I had a bit of a bleed around the 2 month mark but nothing since. DH and I are NOT active atm but I am hoping that will change we are looking at TTC our next baby somewhere around the 10 months onwards mark from DD. BUT if it happened sooner I wouldn'y be worried either itms.

I don't want to stop BF, how likely would it be that I could get utd now? I think mum said I was 12months when she got AF and my brother was conceived a few months later but I also self weaned at 11 months.

Sorry my thinking is all over the shop and I am kind of rambling, I am just wondering what the likely hood would be of getting utd while DD is still feeding so frequently, if I still hadn't had a visit from AF if I came off the pill which I think is affecting me in other ways ...

does that make sense???? sorry for my ramblings I just need to air my thoughts and get some advice/opninions.

    Thanks
    Nae x x

I guess its the type of thing where you aren't going to know until you stop taking the pill. If you think that is what is making you feel that way, then definitely stop taking it and see if that helps, but if you do DTD, then it will be best to use other methods to stop you getting pg until you are ready because while you are BF a lot, it may not be enough to stop getting pg kwim? It will also help you understand your cycle again as well.

I stopped taking Microlut around the same time, just because I didn't like how I was feeling and was losing self confidence and generally not happy.

I found that after a couple of weeks of not taking it I felt a lot better and a new found enthusiasm for life. We used alternative methods of contraception and I lost some weight and things starting looking a lot better.

I also then starting charting the length of my cycle a few moth later and discovered that I had a 25 day cycle, no wonder I thought as a teenager I was always getting my period

AF didn't start for me until DD weaned, I think, I would have to check some old threads to check, mind like a sieve atm!

It is still possible to get UTD while breast feeding but you need to be ovulating, so I guess what you can do is stop the mini pill, and chart your cyle, or at least look for any changes that might indicate O', perhaps grab some ovulation tests as well.
    Take care xxoo

the fact you're only feeding "occassionally" overnight i would say that it's a good idea to assume you have no "protection" from the BF. from my understanding, it only works as a contraceptive (if it works at all! lol) if you are feeding regularly 24/7.

AF returned for me naturally at 6.5 months when i was still feeding E very frequently.

if you're wanting to avoid any chance of falling PG now, i would definitely suggest alternative contraception for a while - but getting off the mini pill sounds like a great idea for you own state of mind.

I'd stop taking the microlut. I remember feeling pretty ordinary on mini pills and just had to stop taking them. I had been ok on full pills prior.
The fact that you are not BF that often over night, you will have a very high change of becoming UTD if you don't take any other precautions.
I remember when on the mini pill AF returned pretty regularly even though I was BF.
I currently have the Mirena in which is finally good, although my OB made sure we were not wanting to have anymore before having this put in.
