It's hard hey? We've been TTC #3 for 11 months. If nothing happens this cycle then i'm going to a GP to request a referal to a gyno at the public hospital (no private health). Not sure what happens after that but my guess is a few blood tests and a pelvic ultrasound.
You are not ungreatful either. It is hard to understand why your previous children are conceived pretty easy and then this one isn't. I conceived my first while on the pill and my second after ttc for 6 months.
Yeah, i don't think you are ungrateful at all. TTC any baby no matter whether it's your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th! if it's taking pretty much close to 12mths to do it.... then that's when i think it's a sensible time to seek help and advice.
Go see your Dr and ask for the tests that I got done, and go from there..... wishing you luck!

I am in the same boat as you. We are TTC#2 and this is our 12th cycle. Our DD took 4 cycles to conceive. I went to my GP 2 months ago and she gave me a referral for a BT and a pelvic scan. The blood test was to check certain hormones and my thyroid and everything came back clear and showed that I ovulate too. The scan came back clear too. So maybe go to your gp and get some basic tests done....
We are waiting another couple of cycles and then we will check DH's swimmers and get other tests done if needed.
We took over a year to conceive Ash, we went to our GP and she sent me for blood tests on certain day of my cycle to make sure I was O and Df sent for a sperm analysis. After the results came back (Df had low sperm count) we were then referred to fertility specialist who did a more indepth test to see exactly what was causing the low sperm count so to see how to fix it. All worked out well in the end.
Good luck.
Your GP is your first step. A good GP will test your hormone levels, test your partner's sperm and give you a referral for an ultrasound. A not so thorough one will send you straight to a gyno which just delays the whole process and usually costs a load more for exactly the same treatment. I was fortunate enough to have a good GP which meant that by the time I got in to the gyno all he had to do was look at all the results then he put me in a waiting list for a lap for fibroid resection & general investigation on my very first visit to him. I ended up cancelling that op though and the reason for that is due in about 4-5 weeks.
