Ovarian Cyst Choc filled/blood cyst

Hi Girls,
I've got a 5cm choc cyst on my right ovary that causes quite a bit of pain! I am waiting to see the specialist to see what needs to happen next. I'm guessing prob an op to remove it. Does anyone have exp with this kind of cyst & what they had done to remove it? Also do u think this can cause infertility?

I think what you are referring to is an endometrioma. It can be treated (removed) through a laparoscopy (key hole surgery). Normally they will also have a look around your pelvic region to see if you have any endometriosis nodules/growths which can go hand in hand with endometriomas.

Normally pain will be reduced with this surgery.

There are quite a few women in here who have endometriosis and you can find lots of threads on it here.

Endometriosis can affect your fertility but many women find they fall pregnant with it or soon after surgery to remove it as it can affect your egg quality and ability of the egg to find its way down the fallopian tube. Sometimes a good spring clean is needed!
