I think what you are referring to is an endometrioma. It can be treated (removed) through a laparoscopy (key hole surgery). Normally they will also have a look around your pelvic region to see if you have any endometriosis nodules/growths which can go hand in hand with endometriomas.

Normally pain will be reduced with this surgery.

Endometriosis can affect your fertility but many women find they fall pregnant with it or soon after surgery to remove it as it can affect your egg quality and ability of the egg to find its way down the fallopian tube. Sometimes a good spring clean is needed!
