Sorry if this question has been asked in the past but is it possible to ovulate/get pregnant when you havent had your period for a while (e.g 2 mths?).
Background: ttc #2, already have a 9 mth old (which was a suprise pregnancy). Stopped pill Nov, had a withdrawal bleed 22 Nov, then had very slight spotting 4 Dec (barely anything) and havent had anything since.
I understand it can take a while for your body to kick back into action but the waiting is killing me.
Am I best to go and see a GP, naturopath, use accupuncture? I know I should be patient and wait a little longer but I can't.
I have 2 friends who fell pg while bf and had not had a period since the birth. I have heard it can take upto 6mths for af to return after finishing bf also
I am also about to ttc #2. Little Douglas is turning six months in Feb. I started taking some herbs last month to bring back my cycle in preparation ttc. It may well have happened by itself in due time but I am not getting any younger and really looking forward to #2.
Hi Di, so the herbs helped bring the cycle on did they? Was that through a naturopath? I am looking forward to #2 as well and just want to get back on track so I can tell if I fall pregnant or not. As without my period I am just wasting pregnancy tests to see if I am pregnant or not.
Thanks Garfield, hopefully it wont take me 6 mths, 2 mths is killing me already!
I am seeing Antonia Ruhl, a Brazilian herbalist and amazing healer. She helped me with conceiving Douglas when nobody else could.
She put me on some herbs to build up my body again and I got my period within three weeks. I am really crossing my fingers that number 2 will be much easier than the first time around but I have a lot of faith in Antonia.
Hi there
its better of for you to see naturopath, to get ur cycles back. i dont any point seeing a doc at the moment...as what they will or might prescribe you is primolut-n.....i will strongly suggest to see naturopath or chinese herbalist before seeing GP...of cos you need to get everything checked by GP initially
Babyeager, is primolut not a good idea? Ive never heard of it before, so just googled it. I have a great family doc who i saw all throughout my 1st pregnancy, already seen her for checkup etc.
Primolut is a progesterone, which Peaks after ovulation. If your period doesn't come on time, you might have an anovulatory cycle..so u need external progesterone to let ur body knows that's it's time to bleed. In terms of good o bad, I've seen lots of ppl using it but it depends how ur body reacts to it.
Hi there,
Im very sure you can still fall pg even if you havent had a period just yet.....because ( unless you have an annovulatry cycle ) your period is caused by your egg being released ( at O) and not being fertalised!
So just because it hasnt happened yet...it dosnt mean it wont happen, you just may have to wait to out a bit especially if you are still bf'ing
Hi Ash, thanks for the reply. I am not breastfeeding my boy, so just a case of waiting it out at the moment.
I guess I am also finding it hard to tell if I am ovulating, CM isnt abundant and I am not taking temp (at this stage, guess I might need to help me along). I am using OPK's but again dont really know when I should be testing as I am now CD 66, thought I may have had a +ive but again not 100% sure.
I am considering seeing a Naturopath or a chinese herbalist soon. I know I am only 2 and a bit mths into TTC but that is 2 mths wasted I feel as I have no idea what is going on.
Hi lucasmum...
I dont get much CM either but the start of this cycle i started EPO ( evening primrose oil capsules) and it really has worked already!!!! I have gotten loads more EWCM then previous cycles!! but you cant take it after O because it can cause your uterus to contract which obviously wouldnt work well with implantation!
ight be worth a shot for the CM prob
