    Papsmear during early pregnancy?

I was just wondering... I'm due for my papsmear (last one was July 2009). Just received a reminder letter from my OB's office in the mail today...

Was just wondering whether they do a papsmear in early pregnancy or at any time during pregnancy if you didn't have a papsmear for 2 years and then fell pregnant before having your papsmear done??

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi pretz,

I was due when I fell pregnant with DD1 but was told that I could wait until my 6 week PostPartum check up.

My gp wanted me to have one done a couple of weeks ago as I was overdue, but my ob advised her to wait until my 6 week check up. The 6 week check up seems to be the normal response from most people and gps etc...

However, at 6 weeks post-partum there is also an increased false positive rate because there are changes that naturally occur during pregnancy that may be diagnosed as pre-cancerous changes even though they disappear again without any treatment. I won't be having mine til 6 months or more pp for this reason.

My ob/gyn said the same thing as Hot1. Personally, I won't be having any invasive procedures while pg. I don't think it's helpful to my body's natural environment.

Thanks everyone. I guess I will make an appointment to go for one before I TTC #2....just hate going for them, but guessing it's better to go for one before than during.....

Raffy - LOL TBH I don't really know "if" I'm UTD.....I haven't had AF yet but not really sure when I should consider her "late" this month seeing as my cycle has been all screwy the last 2 times...... Will be testing on Monday if NO AF.....lol
