Just wanted to let you know about something my GP/FS has learned. The latest research (from the conference he attended anyway) is that there is a link between PCO/S and Vitamin D deficiency. Specifically, Vitamin D3 which is a hormone that is produced from sunlight etc. I was tested and found to be below the acceptable range. So I am now taking D3 supplements. I have chosen this over taking Metaformin.
Funny, we are told to get out of the sun for fear of skin cancer, and because I have done this, lack of sun has contributed to my subfertility (and the fact that I look horrible in bathers and don't go near the beach LOL)!
Yes you can get a blood test and thats how my Dr found I was Vitamin D deficient. I think the normal range is like 50 - 300 and I was 40. I was surprised when I read my PG multivitamins that Vitamin D of any kind wasn't included - so now take a D3 supplement.
Couldn't find anywhere on the Internet that mentions this link, although there are references to Vitamin D3 deficiency and lack of bone density.
