    Question Polyps & HyCoSy

    Hi,
I had a first HyCoSy scan back in December, which revealed it looked like I had polyps. And the dye didn't fill & spill out of my tubes.

So I have a hysteroscopy in early January, to get them removed. I had a 'cluser' of them apparently, but they were all removed ok.

I'm in a dilemma now - one Dr. says I could just start IUI now, having had the polyps removed and assume all is well. But the Dr who did the HyCoSy back in December said i should have that same scan done again, once the polyps are gone...I guess it might have been polyps stopping the dye filling my tubes, but it might not have been that. I could have blocked tubes too.

If I have another HyCoSy this month, I'd have to wait til next month for a first IUI cycle. I don't know what's sensible.

I would think have another HyCoSy to make sure everything's clear - you wouldn't want to waste an IUI.

    Red face

i've come to that conclusion too... i called the clinic a 2nd time and spoke to a different nurse who corrected the info I got from the first one! I won't actually need to wait a month to have my first IUI.

In fact, she said it's rumoured to be (no 'evidence') good to have the HyCoSy immediately prior to the treatment as it can 'flush' the tubes, as long as they're not properly blocked to the point of needing surgery or whatever.

And at the same time, they'll scan my follicle(s) and lining to see if all is looking good for a treatment. My first, so no drugs.

So all I have to do is hope for the best - dye filling & spilling. It's on Thursday afternoon. And be thankful that the more experienced nurse answered my questions in a better way than the first one!

so my 2nd HyCoSy tells me I seem to have one locked tube and one which allowed the dye to pass through, but was 'sluggish'. Not great.

but we're going ahead with the first IUI cycle, becasue the open-but-sluggish tube is the right one, and I have a dominant follicle on the righ too. It was 11mm on CD 8. I'm going back in for another scan on Monday - CD 12.

the cyle is my first, and will be natural. so no drugs yet. Can't decide whether to be nice & positive about the right-side of my body, or to be cynical because of the sluggish tube, and keep my hopes in persepctive.

but i'm glad the HyCoSy didn't tell me to go straight to IVF. I feel I need to work up to that, if it's going to be necessary.
