    TTC after stopping the pill

Does anyone know if it's safe to TTC straight after stopping the pill? Or should I wait until I've had at least 1 period?
If I can even wait, lol.

    Hi SaraJane,

Its totally safe to TTC straight after stopping the pill. The only reason they say to maybe have 1 AF is to see what your cycle is like. Its totally safe though so....!

    Good luck

this is my first cycle after stopping the pill and i started straight away, the only reason to wait is so that you can what your sysle is like so they can give you a better due date when you are pg. Goodluck, i say get straight into it!!

    Hi SarahJane,

The advice is usually to wait 3 cycles before TTC after coming off the pill. Reason is to make sure that your cycles are "normal", just a check that you are O'ing properly as major problems can show up in this time. There is really no reason to wait if everything is fine.

Not to scare anybody, but there are theories that concieving straight after coming off the pill can increase the chances of miscarriage. To put it in perspective, you actually have a much better chance of concieving and giving birth than miscarrying and the miscarriage risk is relatively high anyway (around 25% depending on what you read!!)

The OCP can thin the endometrium and some vitamin and mineral levels can be depleted after coming off the pill. For a few women, the time after coming off the pill is actually the best time to concieve, especially if cycles have been a little irregular before commencing the OCP.

SO if your are healthy and prepared, GO FOR IT and get busy!!! You are young too so that helps. The risks small and it may well be the best time.

    ALL THE BEST.

I had been taking blackmore's vitamins for a few months before coming off the pill, I waited till the end of course (I didn't bother with last 2 pills though) thinking I would have AF a few days later. That never came. I'm now 8 weeks PG. Though I did have 3 day bleed around implantation (I thought it was AF).

    Good luck with TTC.
