Question Really confused... Any help REALLY appreciated! :-)

    Hiya everyone,

I'm new here, new to TCC also! So i'm not that "in the know" with this. It's all new to me!!!

Fiance & I have decided we would love to start TTC. I stopped taking the pill on the 23RD of June. We had intercourse that same night.

I had just finished my period a week prior. It's now the 27TH of June, and i'm bleeding with TERRIBLE cramps. Is this normal? Am I on my period again? Really confused

We're not really sure where to start. Should we make an appointment with our local GP, get any tests done etc?

We're both really hoping for a girl (of course we would be over the moon with a girl or boy) but we're wondering if there's any old tales that "help" having a girl? Taking special vitamins? Diet? Time of intercourse? etc

ANY answers would be amazing, and greatly appreciated.

Just give your body a chance to do its thing, and get its rhythm back after being on the pill.

    Hi and welcome to BB!

When did your last period start? It sounds to me that you only had a 2-3 week cycle??? From what I understand it can take some people's bodies a while to adjust after coming off the pill so I would suggest that it would be likely that your body is just adjusting. You might have a few weird-length cycles whilst it gets used to things.

Were you on your hormone pills when you stopped, or your sugar ones? You might have sorta tricked your body into thinking it's time for another period, given it might be used to having three weeks of hormone pills and one week of sugar pills to bleed...

Also, what everyone else said. You might find it takes a couple of months for your body to get back into a regular pattern

That sounds about right for the timing. I'd get a bleed about 3 days after I started the red (sugar) pills. When you stop the active pills, you get a withdrawal bleed. It doesn't really seem to matter if you've been taking the active pills for 3 weeks or 3 days.

The cramping may be due to stopping the pills "mid-cycle" (ie, not waiting until you were due to take the sugar pills to bring on the regular bleed)? I don't know since I never did that.

I think you're probably fine, but if it's worrying you, it's worth speaking to your Dr about it. They will know if there's anything they need to check out.

    Hi and welcome!

I had a similar thing happen first month off Contraception...I had my merina removed, had a withdrawal bleed and then 1 days break, then another 4 days of bleeding a few more days break and then what I assume was my Period again! It can be frustrating, but its just your bodies way of getting the hormones back to normal. I think you are totally fine, but if in doubt or if the bleeding seems to increase a lot then go to your Doctor. I probably would have finished the pill cycle and then just not started another - but that is just me

Now, I have no medical background so please don't take my advice as you would a professional but I have been told, Sex Before Ovulation for a girl (Not on day of Ovulation) and sex ON day of Ovulation and 1 day after is best for a Boy...Boy Sperm are faster but Girl Sperm last longer....so I have read.

Best of luck with TTC! Come on in to our group TTC 1-6 months if you would like?

    Red face

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for all your replies. I feel better now! My body is doing strange things!! I mainly went on the pill to stop my terrible pains I use to get, so now i'm off it, i'm once again experiencing the pain again - so horrid!!

Now that I think about it, I should have stopped once my pill cycle was finished, but we were both so excited I didn't even think about that!! Bugger.

    Is there a thread Blondie?
